Ja Morant Flashes Gun on Camera During Instagram Live, Memphis Grizzlies Take Action

Ja Morant, who has been making headlines for the past week after the emergence of the reports of his altercations, has sparked yet another controversy. The Memphis Grizzlies point guard was seen flaunting a gun during a recent Instagram Live session.

The snippet from the incident is now going viral on social media and has even come to the notice of the NBA. The news comes in the wake of the reports of him flashing a gun at a teenager after a fight in the summer of last year.

Ja Morant Flashes Gun During Instagram Live

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning when Morant went live on Instagram while sitting at a nightclub after the Grizzlies’ 113-97 loss to the Denver Nuggets. The two-time All-Star was shirtless and was rapping to NBA YoungBoy’s Bring ‘Em Out while dancing. At one moment, he suddenly flashed a gun in front of the camera.

The player was seen briefly bringing the gun to his face before pulling it away. However, it is not known if the weapon was real or fake. The incident has caught the attention of the NBA, and spokesman Mike Bass had to release a statement. He said, “We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating.”

The Grizzlies have also taken action against 23 year old player in the wake of his controversies and have announced that he would not be playing for the team in the next two games at least. Meanwhile, neither Morant nor his reps have commented on the matter.

Morant has Constantly Made Headlines for his Alleged Fights

This week, the Washington Post published a report describing two incidents of Morant’s inappropriate behavior from last year. In one of the incidents, the player got into a fight with a 17 year old boy during a pickup basketball game. The teenager claimed that Morant flashed a gun at him after the altercation.

In the second incident, a mall security guard was threatened by the player and was pushed by his encourage in a parking lot. However, neither of the incidents led to Morant’s arrest. Jim Tanner, Morant’s agent, spoke about the report in his statement.

He said, “Any and every allegation involving a firearm has been fully investigated and could not be corroborated. This includes the NBA investigation last month, in which they found no evidence.”

The Point Guard was also Named in the Recent Indiana Pacers’ Threatening Incident

Both altercations have been reported just weeks after the Indiana Pacers’ management claimed that a red laser was pointed at their members from an SUV in which Morant was also present on January 29. At the time, Bass revealed that the NBA had conducted an investigation and found no evidence of any individual being threatened with a weapon.

“While we substantiated that a postgame situation arose that was confrontational, based on interviews and other evidence gathered, we could not corroborate that any individual threatened others with a weapon,” Bass told the media.

He added, “Certain individuals involved in the postgame situation and a related matter during the game that night have been subsequently banned from attending games in the arena. If additional information becomes available related to the postgame situation, the league office will conduct a further review.”
