Keith ‘Wonderboy’ Johnson has left for the heavenly abode. The Hide Behind The Mountain singer passed away at the age of 50. As per the reports, the singer died on September 30, 2022, Friday.

What was the cause behind the death of Keith Johnson?

The American Gospel musician Keith Johnson is no longer with us. He passed away at the age of 50. The sad news of Keith’s death was first shared by Larry Reid Live and Black Gospel Radio on social media.

Black Gospel Radio took to their official Instagram handle and paid a tribute to Keith. They wrote, “Saddened to hear about the transition of Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson! Our prayers and condolences go out to the family, friends and Quartet community! His music lives on at Black Gospel Radio.”

As of now, the cause of his death has not been revealed. Sending lots of light and strength to friends and family members of Keith Johnson during his difficult time.

Who was Keith Johnson?

Keith Lamar Johnson was born on May 17, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York. He got his stage name ‘Wonderboy’ at the young age of 5 due to his wondrous vocal acumen.  He began singing with his father Philip Johnson and his Uncles with The original spiritual voices.

Johnson kickstarted his music career in the year 1998 with the release of his debut album Through the Storm via World Wide Gospel Records. Then, he dropped his second album Our Gift to You [World Wide Gospel] on November 24, 1998.

Keith’s third album titled Live and Alive saw the light of the day on January 25, 2000. He released his fourth album Would You on October 3, 2000. His fifth album Tribute to Quartet Legends, Vol. 1 dropped on February 6, 2001.

Johnson’s sixth album Send a Revival came out on May 28, 2002, followed by his seventh album New Season on April 20, 2004, and his eighth album Our Gift to You in September of the same year. He dropped his last album Keep Pushin’ in the year 2018.

Throughout his career, Keith dropped a total of 14 studio albums with different labels such as World Wide Gospel Records, Worldwide Records, Verity Records, Central South Records, and Blacksmoke Records.

Tributes pour in for Keith Johnson

Soon afterward, many artists paid tributes to Keith Johnson including singer/songwriter Ted Winn, and singer Titus Showers. They paid tributes to Keith on the social media platform Instagram.

Ted took to his Instagram and wrote, “I’m in shock & disbelief!! @keithwonderboyjohnson  was an incredibly talented artist who always had a smile! My deepest condolences to his family, friends, peers and all who love him.”

The It’s Gonna Be Alright singer Titus Showers also posted a sweet snap of Keith Johnson on Instagram. He paid a heartfelt tribute to the Gospel musician and referred to him as a brother.
