According to the court documents obtained by People magazine, Gigi was recently arrested for drug possession. It has been reported that the authorities found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in her luggage after she arrived in the Cayman Islands last week with some of her friends on a private plane.
Hadid went on a girls trip to the tropical destination from the United States on July 10. Local media outlet Cayman Marl Road has mentioned that the customs officials found “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” in her luggage.
Similar items were also found in the luggage of Gigi’s close friend Leah Nicole McCarthy. Soon after, both the women were arrested by the authorities and taken to the Prisoner Detention Center.
Gigi and her friend Leah were released on bail and fined $1,000. The two of them also appeared in a Summary Court on July 12 where they both pleaded guilty. At the moment, the women are not facing any charges.
A representative for Hadid told People magazine, “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in N.Y.C. with a Medical license. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
