‘General Hospital’ Star Billy Miller Passes Away at 43

Emmy award-winning actor Billy Miller, best known for his great performances in soap operas such as The Young and the Restless and General Hospital has died. He passed away at the age of 43.

Billy, a soap star, took his last breaths on Friday, September 15, 2023, in Austin, Texas. He died just a couple of days before what would have been his 44th birthday. He would have turned 44 on September 17, Sunday.

What was the cause behind the death of Billy Miller?

The heartbreaking news of Miller’s demise was first announced by soap opera journalist Michael Fairman. At the time of his death, he was 43 years old. His agent recently told The New York Post, that he struggled with manic depression.

Billy Miller was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 17, 1979. He was brought up in Grand Prairie, Texas. While having a chat with Soaps in Depth, he spilled the beans on his childhood and stated that as a kid, he was in and out of the hospital for a tarsal condition that affected the cartilage in his ankles.

When we talk about Miller’s educational qualifications, he went to the University of Texas at Austin. Soon after, he worked in the mailroom at Industry Entertainment. Later on, he signed as a model to Wilhelmina.

Billy Miller’s acting career explored

Billy garnered the attention of the fans when he played the role of Richie Novak in the soap opera All My Children in 2007. Nearly after 2 years, he bagged the role of Billy Abbott in Young and the Restless. He worked on the show for a total of six years and won three Emmy awards.

During a 2008 interview with Soap Opera Digest, the three-time Emmy winner shed some light on pursuing a career in acting and said, “My parents didn’t go to college and it was hard enough for them to swallow that I’d gone from trying to get a real degree [in business] to film.”

Miller went on to say, “My dad had a mini-heart attack but came around — and now he’s a big Texas guy who watched daytime TV!”  Then, he was cast as Jason Morgan/Drew Cain in ABC’s General Hospital.

Along with this, Billy also appeared in many popular shows such as Suits, Ray Donovan, Truth Be Told, and Castle. His film credits include Fatal Honeymoon, Bad Blood, and American Sniper.

Billy Miller’s survivors include his mom Patricia, sister Megan, brother-in-law Ronnie, nephew Grayson, and niece Charley.
