Ronnie Hillman passes away at 31

Recently, Ronnie’s family members announced the unfortunate news of the former Denver Broncos star’s death via a statement on his official Instagram page. They posted a beautiful smiling picture of the football player on Instagram.

His family started the statement by writing, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother & father, Ronnie K Hillman Jr. Ronnie quietly and peacefully transitioned  today in the company of his family and close friends.”

The statement further read, “We as the family, appreciate the prayers and kind words that have already been expressed. We ask that you would give us time to process our feelings as we prepare to lay our precious RJ to rest.” They concluded the statement by saying, “More information will be forthcoming. With love, The Family.”

What was the reason behind the death of Ronnie Hillman?

For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Ronnie was in hospice fighting for his life after he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. As per reports by TMZ, he was diagnosed with renal medullary carcinoma in August.

Renal medullary carcinoma is a “rare but highly aggressive neoplasm form of cancer that primarily affects young African Americans with sickle cell trait.” Over the last few months, Hillman had undergone treatment but it did not turn out to be successful. Nearly 2 days ago, his family stated that he was getting comfortable and out of pain in hospice care.

Ronnie’s family said, “As a family, we hope beyond hope, and we have faith that can move mountains. We also understand that God’s will is not always ours; therefore, we as a family subject ourselves to the will of our Almighty God. We need your prayers, but we also need your understanding and respect for Ronnie and our family’s privacy at this time.”

Who was Ronnie Hillman?

Ronnie Hillman was born on September 14, 1991, in Compton, California. He was an American football running back. Back in the day, he played college football at San Diego State.

Soon after, Hillman was drafted by the Denver Broncos, in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. At that point, he signed a four-year deal with the Denver Broncos. He also won   Super Bowl 50 with the team.

Later on, down the lane, Ronnie also played for other teams like Minnesota Vikings, San Diego Chargers, and Dallas Cowboys. He will surely be missed by his loved ones.
