Reality TV star Dolores Hughes is no longer with us. Dolores was a star of the 2014 reality series Hollywood Hillbillies. She was popularly known as Mema. She passed away at the age of 76.

What was the cause behind the death of Dolores Hughes?

Hughes’ manager David Weintraub told media outlet TMZ, that Dolores had died. David revealed that Hughes passed away due to heart failure at a hospital in her hometown of Grayson, Georgia on November 9, 2022, Wednesday.

In an interview with TMZ, Michael Weintraub talked about Dolores and said, “Mema was the greatest, most outspoken ‘tell-it-like-it-is personalities the world had ever seen on TV. I know that she will still be bossing all of us around from heaven.”

According to Yahoo, Dolores’ family also confirmed the news of her passing away via a social media post. They put out a statement on the social media platform Facebook. Her family wrote, “We are heartbroken to confirm the passing of the amazing, beautiful, kind soul of Dolores ‘Mema’ Hughes.”

They further added, “Mema’s family was her whole world! She bragged about them to anyone every time she had the opportunity. Mema was a trailblazer in many ways. She never really understood why so many people loved her and wanted to be around her. She definitely didn’t understand Hollywood.”

Her family concluded by saying, “But one thing about, she was a pure comedic genius without trying! Her memory will live on with all the stories and laughs she offered to anyone willing to listen. We love you Mema! RIP Queen!”

Who was Dolores Hughes?

For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you, Dolores Hughes was a star of the reality show named Hollywood Hillbillies. Mema, her breakout character on the reality series, Hollywood Hillbillies brought her a lot of attention from the side of fans.

The 2014 reality show Hollywood Hillbillies starred Michael Kittrell (also known for his YouTube channel, CopperCab). It revolved around the life of the YouTube star Michael “Coppercab” Kittrell and his family as they moved from a small town Georgia to Hollywood, California.

The reality series Hollywood Hillbillies saw the light of day in the year 2014. The show aired on Reelz between the years 2014 and 2015. It ran for a total of 23 episodes before its cancelation. Along with Michael and Dolores, the show also starred Michael’s aunt, Dee Dee Peters, her boyfriend Paul Conlon, and Kittrell’s uncle, John Cox.

In addition to this, Dolores was also known for her appearances on Tosh.0 and The Playboy Morning Show. Even though Michael “Coopercab” Kittrell was the star of the show Hollywood Hillbillies, Dolores Hughes aka Mema grabbed the attention of the fans.

Hughes is survived by her husband, Paul Conlon, daughter Dee Dee Peters, son John Cox, and grandson Michael Coppercab Kittrell. As of right now, no memorial plans have been disclosed.
