Danny Masterson is going to spend 30 years of his life in prison! The That 70’s Show actor was sentenced to 30 years in jail on Thursday for sexually assaulting two women in the early 2000s.
The incident saw the light of day at his home in Los Angeles. Several media outlets have reported that Masterson didn’t utter a word during the hearing. Along with this, he didn’t even testify in any trial.
Danny Masterson gets sentenced to 30 years in jail in rape case
Danny Masterson is behind the bars now! On Thursday, the American actor was sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping two women at his Hollywood Hills mansion nearly 2 decades ago.
The Malcolm in the Middle actor didn’t speak after the Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo gave the final verdict on the case. Soon after, the actor’s attorney, mentioned they are “very disappointed in the sentence” and will appeal.
In the court, Olmedo said, “Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here. Your actions 20 years ago took away another person’s choice and voice. Your actions 20 years ago today were criminal, and that’s why you are here.”
The judge also talked about how Danny is probably wondering “how you can be convicted of each charge of sexual incident occurring 20 years ago” involving “a woman who you believe is disgruntled and has a vendetta against you.” She continued, “You were not convicted on the testimony of one person.”
Olmedo went on to say, “You were not convicted based on rumors, innuendo, gossip, and speculation. You were convicted based on evidence that 12 people in the community found to be credible. … You were convicted because each of the victims reported the rapes to someone shortly after the rapes occurred.”
Now, Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. The judge declined the defense’s request that Danny’s sentence be concurrent instead of consecutive which means he would be given a jail term of only 15 years.
Danny’s wife, Bijou Phillips who is a model and actress was also present at her husband’s trials. As per various media reports, she was spotted crying in court as her partner was jailed for 30 years for raping two women.
What did the victims have to say?
Two of Danny’s victims gave emotional statements in court before the judge announced the final verdict. One women identified only as N. Trout said, “You relish in hurting women. It is your addiction. It is without question your favorite thing to do.”
Trout further added, “Life is precious and fragile. Find your heart. Listen to the brightness of nothing and get well. I forgive you.” Masterson was accused of raping three women: N. Trout, Jennifer B. and Chrissy B from 2001 to 2003.
The other victim told the court, “When you raped me, you stole from me. That’s what rape is, a theft of the spirit. You are pathetic, disturbed and completely violent. The world is better off with you in prison.”
