Daniel Radcliffe is a father now! The Harry Potter star has welcomed his first child with his girlfriend Erin Darke. A rep for the actor has confirmed the news. The couple stepped out with their little munchkin on April 24th when they were seen strolling around New York City.
Radcliffe, 33, and Darke, 38, have been dating for over ten years now. The news of their pregnancy came out at the end of last month. Read on to know more about the exciting news.
Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke Welcome First Child Together
The news of the baby’s birth was first reported by Dailymail, which shared photos of Radcliffe pushing a stroller with Darke by his side. The actor’s publicist then confirmed the news. The couple has not yet revealed the gender or name of their baby. It is also not revealed when the child was born.
The couple kept their pregnancy a secret for a long time. It was only last month when a source disclosed that they were expecting their first baby together. “Daniel and Erin are absolutely overjoyed about the pregnancy. It’s a dream come true! They’ve been proudly showing photographs of the ultrasound to their closest family and friends,” the insider said.
“[Erin is] attending birthing classes, and they’ve bought a stack of baby books for beginners, so they’re up to speed on what to expect. Dan is taking a hands-on approach in the kitchen — cooking vegetables and Folic acid-based dishes!” the source continued.
Radcliffe Discussed Parenthood in an Interview Last Year
In an interview last year, the actor talked about how he would want his kids to be around film sets. “I want my kids, if and when they exist….I would love them to be around film sets. A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like God, you know, I’d love to be in the art department,” Radcliffe said.
“I’d love to be something in the crew. Some part of this, but not from that. I think if you can get a situation where you’re on film sets without necessarily ‘oh, this is gonna be a big deal in your life,’ that’s great. Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids. But it’s really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs,” he added.
The Couple has been Together for 10 Years
Radcliffe and Darke met on the sets of their 2013 film Kill Your Darlings and soon fell in love. They have been going strong ever since. Talking about his first encounter with his lady love, Radcliffe said, “[In the film] our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting.”
He earlier also opened up about how he considers Darke his best friend. “I think that’s the kind of relationship I always aspire to have with someone I’m in a relationship with. You want that person to be your best friend. In the case of Erin, we definitely are,” the actor stated in 2014.
