Emmy-winning actress Kirstie Alley is no longer with us. The star best known for playing the role of Rebecca Howe in the NBC sitcom Cheers which ran across a total of 11 seasons, has died.

What was the cause behind the death of Kirstie Alley?
The sad news of Kirstie’s death was shared by her two children: True and Lillie on her Instagram page. They issued a statement on the social media platform Instagram to confirm the passing away of their mom. They revealed that their mom died from cancer.
True and Lillie started by writing, “To all our friends, far and wide around the world… We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.”
They further added, “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”
The siblings continued, “Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.”
They concluded the statement by offering a token of thanks to all the fans of their starlet mom Kirstie Alley. They wrote, “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”
Tributes pour in for Kirstie Alley
Soon after the tragic news of Kirstie Alley’s death broke out, many fans and friends of the star paid tribute to the Hollywood actress on various social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter.
Alley’s longtime friend and former costar John Travolta took to his Instagram account and shared his condolences. He wrote, “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”
The One Day at a Time actress Valerie Bertinelli also mourned the loss of Kirstie Alley on the social media platform Twitter and penned, “Oh Kirstie, Rest in Peace”

Kirstie shot to fame in 1987 when she essayed the role of Rebecca Howe in NBC’s Cheers. She even bagged a Golden Globe for best actress and an Emmy for outstanding lead actress for her performance in the Boston-based series in 1991.
Throughout the course of her acting career, Alley appeared in several films like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Summer School (1987), Shoot to Kill (1988), Look Who’s Talking (1989), Madhouse (1990), Sibling Rivalry (1990), and many more.
