‘Breaking Bad’ Star Mike Batayeh Dies at 52, Cause of Death Revealed

Mike Batayeh, best known for essaying the character of the laundromat manager Dennis Markowski in the popular show Breaking Bad and performing comedy sets worldwide has died.

American actor Mike Batayeh has left for the heavenly abode. His family confirmed the news of his passing via a statement issued on Facebook. It has been reported by Variety, that he took his last breaths on June 1. He died of a massive heart attack while sleeping at his Michigan home.

In a statement issued, Mike’s family wrote, “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that my sisters and I announce the passing of our dear brother. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and his great ability to bring laughter and joy to so many.”

Mike Batayeh was an actor by profession. According to his IMDb page, he was a native of Detroit. Not much is known about his early life. Throughout his celebrated career, he appeared in many television shows including Everybody Loves Raymond, The Sheild, Sleeper Cell, Touch, and Breaking Bad.

Apart from this, Batayeh also starred in a couple of movies such as American Dreams, Gas, American East, You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, and Detroit Unleaded.

Keeping aside his acting career, Mike was also a brilliant stand-up comedian. He was one of the Western comics who performed for the people in Dubai where he recorded a comedy special for Showtime Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan.

Mike Batayeh is survived by his five sisters, Ida Vergollo, Diane Batayeh-Ricketts, MaryAnn Joseph, Madeline Sherman, and Theresa Aquino, and several nephews and nieces. After the news of Mike’s demise broke, many of his fans and loved ones paid tributes to him on social media.

Batayeh’s friend Rola Nashef wrote, “A devastating loss of a huge life – Mike Batayeh, you were everybody’s friend. And I mean everybody. There isn’t a person that I introduced you to or a waitress that took our order whom you didn’t make laugh, think, inspire and root for. You wanted to see us all win… Your sense of humor and your talent for stage, screenwriting, television and film was genius, outrageous and fearless.”

Yorg Kerasiotis talked about Mike and penned, “You were the superstar we always admired and one of the funniest men I’ve ever known.” Another loved one remembered him as “an old school friend, who was loyal, generous, wise and invested in the people that you loved.”
