American comedian, Bill Cosby, who earned a reputation for being America’s dad, was recently found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor in 1975 as observed by a jury in California last year. Now, he is facing another lawsuit for “drugging and sexually assaulting” a woman in 1969.
The Sexual Assault Lawsuit Is Filed By A Former Actress
A former actress, Victoria Valentino (now 80) filed a lawsuit, claiming that she met Bill Cosby (now 85) when she was an actress and a singer. The comedian approached her at a Los Angeles cafe, where she was crying over the recent drowning death of her six-year-old son.
She alleged that Cosby took advantage of her situation, drugging and sexually assaulting her and another woman at his home in 1969. The lawsuit was filed on Thursday (June 1) under a new Californian law that suspends the statute of limitations on sex abuse claims.
The Cosby Show star has been accused of sexual assault, rape, and sexual harassment by at least 60 women. The comedian has continued to deny his involvement in sex crimes. He was first tried and convicted in the #MeToo era, spending nearly 3 years in state prison. He was released in 2021.
Bill Cosby Drugged And Sexually Abused Two Women
Valentino claims in the lawsuit that Cosby offered a spa treatment for her and a friend and picked them up in his chauffeured car for dinner. At a steakhouse, the women were given a pill, which made them feel dizzy.
Thereafter, he drove them to his house, where the former actress passed away on a couch and witnessed him sexually assaulting her friend (who remains unidentified). The court documents allege the comedian then “engaged in forced sexual intercourse” with Valentino while she was incapacitated by the drug.
Last year, Cosby was found guilty by a Los Angeles jury, comprising eight women and four men, who gave their verdict in favor of Judy Ruth, who was sexually assaulted by him as a teenager. The court ordered the comedian to pay the woman USD 500,000 million in damages. No punitive damages were found.
The complaint was filed by Ruth in 2014 for sexual harassment by Bill Cosby, who directed Ruth to his bedroom and forced her into sexual activities. According to the court filing, Ruth alleged that the incident happened in 1974, but the timeline was later revised to 1975 when she was 16.
As for the present case, Valentino declared that she has suffered “severe humiliation, mental anguish, embarrassment, anger, emotional distress and loss of earnings”, and she is going after Cosby’s money, who has a net worth of over $400 million as of 2023.
