Ben Gordon has been arrested yet again. The former NBA star was taken into custody this week for allegedly attacking two security guards. Gordon apparently got physical with two security persons at a McDonald’s outlet, which led to his arrest.
Gordon has been booked by the police on two counts of misdemeanor battery. The news comes just a month after the basketball player was previously arrested for punching his 10 year old son at an airport. Read on to know more about the development.
Ben Gordon Arrested in Chicago After Attacking Security Guards at McDonald’s
The 39 year old former player allegedly beat two security guards at the Rock ‘n’ Roll McDonald’s in Chicago on Friday morning. Around 3:30 am, the Chicago police responded to reports of a disturbance at the fast food outlet, which is situated at 600 block of North Clark.
Police revealed that Gordon was being escorted out of the restaurant when he punched and knocked down a 29 year old male guard and pushed and threw another 21 year old male guard to the ground. Both the victims refused to get medical attention. It is not yet clear why the former Chicago Bulls star was being forced to leave the outlet.
Gordon has been booked on two counts of misdemeanor battery: for causing bodily harm and making physical contact. A source close to the development has revealed that the player is now out of prison, but the details of his bail are not disclosed yet.
Gordon was Taken into Custody Last Month for Punching his Son
In October, the ex-NBA star was arrested at an NYC airport for punching his son multiple times in the face after the 10 year old boy dropped a book. He was booked on charges of child abuse on October 10, and was barred from boarding his flight.
A witness in the case told the police that Gordon struck his son in the ‘face multiple times’. The kids had to be taken to the hospital and was examined for injuries. Gordon reportedly resisted his arrest at the time and said to the officers, “I am not going with you guys.”
The incident led to two officers getting hurt, after which they were treated at a hospital. One of the policemen got an injury on his knee, and the other one sustained injuries on his arm and wrist.
The Former NBA Star has a Long History of Legal Troubles
Following his retirement, Gordon has found himself embroiled in a number of legal issues. In 2017, he was arrested after beating a man in his house and was booked on the charges of physical assault and robbery. The same year, he was booked for robbing the manager of a residential complex.
Later that year, he was again taken into custody for setting false fire alarms. Shortly after his bail in the child abuse case last month, Gordon was sent behind bars in relation to an open assault case that happened in 2020.
