What happened to the 7-year-old Texas girl Athena Strand?
As per a report by CBS, Athena Strand went missing from her home on Wednesday. It has been reported by the media outlet, that police authorities believe that the FedEx driver, Tanner Lynn Horner, had delivered a package to her home around the time she vanished.
Horner has admitted that he abducted the young girl from her home in Paradise, approximately 40 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The cops have arrested him on the counts of capital murder and aggravated kidnapping.
What did the cops have to say about the missing case of 7-year-old Athena Strand?
During a late Friday press conference, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin talked about the missing case of Athena Strand and said, “We knew early on in the investigation that there had been a FedEx driver, made a delivery in front of the house, about the same time that little Athena, 7-year-old Athena, came up missing.”
It has been stated that the investigators have digital proof that the FedEx driver, Tanner Lynn Horner committed the heinous crime but they didn’t spill the beans on what it consists of. The alleged murderer is being held on $1.5 million bail.
How did Athena Strand die?
Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin went on to say that Strand likely died “within the very hour or so after her departure from her home.” The police authorities did not elaborate on how Athena died.
The cops found the dead body of Athena southeast of Boyd, a town approximately 10 miles away from her Paradise home. Strand was reported missing around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday after her stepmom couldn’t find her in the home.
In an interview with NBC 5, Lane Akin said, “We know that there was a little bit of an argument between her and her step-mom last night but it isn’t anything unusual. There was that argument, then step-mom went to fix dinner, came back to get Athena, and Athena wasn’t in her room.”
Akin stated that the stepmother looked for Athena for about an hour before she reported the young girl missing. Police had speculated that Strand must have left the house on her own and gotten lost. WFAA reported that her family told police that she had done this before and cops hoped that they would find her in the night.
Although, her family wasn’t sure that she left the house alone and told cops she is afraid of the dark. Keeland Kulbeth, Athena’s aunt and sister to Athena’s mom, told NBC 5, “We definitely don’t believe Athena ran off.” Athena’s family described her as a sweet and kind little girl.
