Amber Heard has made her first major public appearance a year after her messy defamation trial against Johnny Depp. The actress was seen at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy on June 23rd for the premiere of her film In the Fire.
Heard was all smiles as she posed happily for the cameras. She was joined by her film director Conor Allyn and co-actor Eduardo Noriega. The appearance comes just a few days after it was reported that the 37-year-old has paid $1 million lawsuit settlement money to Depp.
Amber Heard Makes Appearance at Taormina Film Festival
Heard was seen enjoying her time at the 69th Taormina Film Festival at Teatro Antico. She joked around with her fellow cast members of In the Fire as they all headed for the grand opening of the festival.
Heard spotted an all-white attire, wearing a t-shirt and calf-length skirt with black heels. A number of attendees and fans gathered around the Aquaman actress to take selfies with her. One employee even told her, “You are my favorite person,” to which she replied, “I believe you.”

Heard’s Film In The Fire is Set to Premiere at the Festival
In the Fire is Heard’s first film after her much-talked-about defamation trial against ex-husband Depp. The movie completed filming in March 2022, a few weeks before the defamation lawsuit trial began. The film is set to premiere at the Taormina Film Festival on Saturday.
Heard’s character in the supernatural thriller film is that of a ‘psychiatrist who sets out to treat a desperate child at a time when psychiatry is not yet a respected science. While the woman tries to psychoanalyze the child, the nefarious events intensify and her cure becomes a race to save the little boy from the fury of his fellow citizens, and perhaps, even from himself.’
The theatrical release date for the film has not been announced yet. Heard is also set to appear in DC Studios’ Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will be released on December 20th this year.
Heard Recently Paid Depp $1 Million as Defamation Lawsuit Settlement
In the middle of June, reports surfaced that Heard has paid her $1 million settlement money to Depp, which he decided to donate to five different charities. When Depp won the lawsuit in June 2022, Heard was ordered to pay him $10 million n compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
However, the former couple reached a settlement of $1 million in December 2022. Ever since Heard has moved to Spain with her 2-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, Depp also made a public appearance at a festival in May this year.
The 60-year-old actor opened the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and also talked about making a comeback to the films after the trial. “I keep wondering about the word comeback because I didn’t go anywhere,” he told the press.
“As a matter of fact, I live about 45 minutes away. So yeah, maybe people stopped calling out of whatever their fear was at the time. But no, I didn’t go nowhere. I’ve been sitting around,” added the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
