Jeff Cook who was the co-founder of the country band Alabama has left for the heavenly abode. As per a press release issued by Cook’s representatives, the brilliant guitarist died on Monday at his home in Florida while surrounded by his close friends and family.
As of right now, the exact cause of Jeff’s death is unknown but let us share with you, he battled Parkinson’s disease for a long time. He was first diagnosed with the condition in the year 2012. He shared the news of his diagnosis with his fans in 2017.
At that time, Jeff, the fiddle player and guitarist for the band, talked about the disease and put out a statement that read, “This disease robs you of your coordination, your balance, and causes tremors.”
Cook went on to say, “For me, this has made it extremely frustrating to try and play guitar, fiddle, or sing. I’ve tried not to burden anyone with the details of my condition because I do not want the music to stop or the party to end, and that won’t change no matter what. Let me say, I’m not calling it quits but sometimes our bodies dictate what we have to do, and mine is telling me it’s time to take a break and heal.”

Jeffrey Alan Cook was a country artist who was born on August 27, 1949, in Fort Payne, Alabama. He was well known for being a member of the country band Alabama. He began playing guitar and keyboards at a young age.
Nearly three days, after his fourteenth birthday, Cook bagged a broadcast engineer license and soon after, he began working at a local radio station as a disc jockey while still in high school. He went to Fort Payne High School and graduated from Jacksonville State University.
After a while, Cook founded Cook Sound Studios, Inc., in his native Fort Payne and also established the radio station WQRX-AM. In the late 60s, he and his 2 cousins moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to play for tips. They ended up getting a big record deal after 6 years. He was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2019.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Lisa Cook whom he married in the year 1995 along with his mom Betty Cook and brother David Cook, Crystal Cook, father-in-law Jerrial Williams and brother-in-law Randy Williams, among several nieces and nephews.
