Ed Sheeran Gets A New Squirtle Tattoo in Honor of His Upcoming Song

Aside from being well known for his ballads and for collaborating with artists like Stormzy and Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran is also known for his tattoos and is most known for his efforts in the music world.

He has well over 60 tattoos, which could rival the likes of Harry Styles or Justin Bieber at the moment. In honor of his new Pokemon song Celestial, the Shape Of You singer has just revealed a new Squirtle tattoo dedicated to the music.

He Shows Off His Squirtle Tattoo And Announces The Imminent Release Of Celestial

There has recently been a video posted on Ed Sheeran’s Instagram account in which he reveals a new tattoo that has been done on his right arm. When he tells the tattoo, he can be seen showing off a little Squirtle from the Pokemon series.

Moreover, he captioned the video, “I think it fits right in, yeah? ‘Celestial’ out September 29!”. This way, he announced that very shortly, a new pokemon song would be released to the fans on September 29.

For those unfamiliar with the Pokemon series, let me tell you that Squirtle’s name implies everything about its visual design. Water turtles. Squirtle’s stubby blue limbs and round head stick out of the hard brown and pale shell covering its body. Blue tails are similar to its head and limbs but shaped like swirling waves.

There is a solid defensive and reactive aspect to Squirtle’s Pokedex entries and anime appearances. One of the best examples of this defensive personalization in the anime is the leader of the Squirtle Squad, soon to be Ash’s Squirtle. They put on a cool and intimidating act to defend themselves abstractly. The shell protects them physically, and their actions protect them socially.

The New Pokemon Single, Celestial, Features Ed Sheeran

Since Pokemon 25 was released to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the company has collaborated with many artists, including Katie Parry, Post Malone, Lil Yachty, Jax Jones, and J Balvin.

The video did not include UK singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, which is surprising given his passion for Pokemon. To solve this issue, Ed’s next single, “Celestial,” is coming out on September 29. It can be pre-booked on Spotify, Apple Music, or Deezer.

Ed Sheeran has collaborated with Pokemon Go before. In November last year, the four-time Grammy winner performed live in-app with Pokemon Go. If Pokemon announces any in-game collaborations, we’ll keep you posted. This looks like just a fun song featuring Pikachu.

A List Of Ed Sheeran’s Famous Tattoos

We don’t know exactly how many tattoos Ed Sheeran has, but we do know he has between 60 and 100. Ed spent over 40 hours just getting tattooed over the past 12 months. He’s also inked singers Rihanna and Harry Styles. Ed seems to be planning on commemorating more things through tattoos, so it doesn’t seem like he’s finished.

It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran’s tattoos are meaningful. Even their placement has meaning: his right arm is reserved for his personal life, while his left arm is reserved for his career achievements.

At 18, Ed got a tattoo “without real reason” of a paw print. Then, in 2012, Ed got a tattoo of his favourite Heinz! This year, Heinz began collaborating with him!

In addition to the three-leaf clover, Ed has three boxing gloves to commemorate his grandad! His grandad was a boxer, hence the boxing gloves. But why three? They represent each of the first Madison Square Garden shows he sold out!

The infamous lion tattoo is Ed’s most controversial tattoo. When Ed posted early photos of the tattoo, people mistook it for a tiger! So many people love and hate this tattoo, some loving it and others hating it.

There is no doubt that Ed Sheeran is a tattoo lover, and his new tattoo is no exception. The new Squirtle tattoo, however, looks cute on his arm. What are your thoughts on Ed Sheeran’s new tattoo? Let us know in the comments.
