Halloween might be over but we are still drooling over Deepica Mutyala’s choice of costume: Wonder Woman but with cultural twist. One of the greatest faces to represent South Asian-Americans in the beauty world, Mutyala took it a notch further this year with her brilliant costume as South Asian Wonder Woman.

Mutyala is wearing the superhero costume, yes, but she’s adorned herself with stunning gold Indian jewelry, henna, and a sparkly dupatta. Her look is inspired by Gal Gadot’s on-screen persona in one of 2017’s biggest hits, “Wonder Woman,” which released in June. The film brought back the much-needed focus on women heroes.

The director of the movie, Patty Jenkins, tweeted about Mutyala’s avatar.

The beauty blogger wants to share an important message via her campaign #BeYourOwnPrincess. “Be you for YOU,” she writes, “I say this looking into a mirror honestly. I’m pretty confident in my skin but we all are human and have our days. Everyone has a little Wonder Woman in them - use that to create what works for YOU! She doesn’t necessarily need a cape or cuffs - my personal Wonder Woman wears a sari and bangles and they do the job just as well.”

She also refers to #BeYourOwnHero, another campaign she took up, which resulted in her dressing up not only as Princess Jasmine, Cinderella, Ariel but also Prince Charming.

Mutyala’s projects and her rapid growth in this industry is helping put desi women on the map, letting the world know the importance of having beauty products for our skin tone. Her vlogs and tutorials can be found on her YouTube channel, deepicam. She’s worked with brands like L’Oreal and Birchbox, appeared on The Today Show as the on-air beauty expert.

Her skills are unparalleled and her reviews are on-point, making her our absolute favorite.

Take a look at her transformation.
