David Harbour Weight Loss: ‘Stranger Things’ Star Lost 80 Pounds in 8 Months

When you are an actor, you are supposed to be in good shape all the time. Sometimes, you even have to prep your body for a particular role in short span of time and let us tell you it is not a piece of cake my friend.

Recently, David Harbour dropped a whopping 80 pounds for season 4 of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things. Read on to know how did the Hollywood actor shed those extra kilos in a couple of months.

David Harbour lost nearly 80 pounds for ‘Stranger Things 4’

Yes, you heard it right. The Stranger Things star pulled all his stops to lose 80 pounds in a total of eight months for his role Sheriff Jim Hopper on the blockbuster series of Netflix. In the previous seasons of the show, David’s character Hopper was shown as a bulky guy but things took a turn in the latest season, as he was seen looking really fit.

In the last season of Stranger Things, the future of David’s character Jim Hopper was left up in the air but the makers of the show have compensated for that with the recent season.

David’s character Jim Hopper has been one of the fan favorites since the time the show Stranger Things premiered. In the year 2017, Merriam-Webster put up a video of him dancing on the show and described it as the visual definition of the term “dad bod”

How did David lose 80 pounds?

To obtain the glow up, David worked hard day and night. We know you all are wondering how did he lose so much weight quickly let us tell there is no magic trick for that it’s been one hell of a process for him as well.

Harbour shed a large amount of weight by fasting and focusing more on his diet. In a media interaction, he stated “It’s not easy, it’s a lot of not eating when you lose that much weight, and being hungry.”

What did David Harbour have to say about losing 80 pounds?

During an interaction with British GQ, Harbour spilled the beans on his weight loss journey and he stated it was the last time that he was dieting down for a role. He said, “I lost about 80 lbs. from season three — I was about 270 [then], and when we shot [season four] I was around 190.”

David went on to say that to achieve his toned physique he lost 80 pounds in eight months and he did a lot of things to reach that goal including Pilates and intermittent fasting.

The American actor told the media outlet, “I don’t think I’ll ever do that again. I have this Santa Claus movie [Violent Night] coming out for Universal in December and I gained [it all back]. But now, yeah, never again. The prosthetics are too good.”
