Anya’s Ethereal Look At 2023 BAFTAs
Anya Taylor-Joy’s “magical caped” look from 2023 BAFTAs is all that fans are talking about. The 26-year-old arrived at London’s Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (Feb. 19), and donned something straight out of a fairytale. She was seen in a pink velvet magical cape from the Italian luxury fashion label, Schiaparelli. Indeed, she looked like a picture of love as she walked through the red carpet.
Fresh from the Italian brand’s SS23 collection, Anya’s blush pink micro dress enhanced her ethereal look. As for the makeup, “The Witch” star wore a slick of mascara and deep pink lipstick, with brown undertones. She flaunted her platinum locks in a middle parting.
The boxy-shaped structured piece was crafted from a “soft, plush velvet and featured a lustrous sheen as well as bow appliqué detailing”. She accessorised the look with minimalist gold strappy sandals and a loop-style choker necklace. But again, the outerwear (an XXL duvet-like shawl), garnered the most attention.
How Are Fans Reacting?
Anya’s magical cape look created a buzz all across social media and fans are absolutely awed by “The Menu” star. One person wrote on Twitter: ‘Anya in Schiaparelli is genuinely changing my life.’ Another chimed, ‘anya taylor joy may not serve all the time on red carpets but when she does it’s always a moment!’
The dramatic look was praised by celebrities and fans across social media. One person commented, ‘anya Taylor joy looks gorggggg’ and ‘one thing about anya taylor joy: she will always serve.’ We second that. FYI, Anya was one of the nominees for the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2017.
Apart from her, other stars like Jamie Lee Curtis and Cate Blanchett sought attention as they wore a blue ribbon in support of the refugees and displaced people around the world. The move came in support of the people hit by earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which killed approximately 44,000 people and displaced thousands of them.
At the 2023 BAFTAs, Netflix’s anti-war movie, “All Quiet On The Western Front” stood on top with 14 nominations. This year, Anya presented the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer to Charlotte Wells for “Aftersun” alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. The ceremony was also attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine.
For the last six years, the BAFTAs have taken have been held at the Royal Albert Hall. But this year, the star-studded ceremony was moved to the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, which, the organisation said, allowed the 76th iteration of the event to be the “most ambitious and accessible night yet”.
