Who is Olga Buzova? Russian Influencer left in Tears after Instagram Ban

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin called for an Instagram ban amidst his country’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

Some of Russia’s most famous influencers have broken down in tears after learning Vladimir Putin is instituting an Instagram ban amid his country’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

The move has caused quite a stir among Russian influencers, who are now worried about how they will make money or continue to build their followings without the social media platform.

Among those, a Russian influencer’s video is circulating expressing her anger and sadness over the app’s ban in the country. Check out this article to know the full details.

Instagram Leaves Russia

On Tuesday, the Russian government announced it would be blocking the Facebook-owned social media site in addition to two other popular platforms, TikTok and WeChat as a form of retaliation against the U.S. sanctions imposed last week on Russia over its alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election and its treatment of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

The Russian government has begun blocking access to the app after it refused to store user data on servers located within Russia, as well as delete a number of posts that were deemed illegal by authorities.

The incredibly popular photo-sharing app is used by nearly 60 million Russian citizens, which represents approximately half of the country’s population.

A number of high profile social media stars have since spoken out against the ban, including Russian model Ekaterina Koba and fitness trainer Olesya Malinskaya.

Olga Buzova Left In Tears, “My Life Is Being Taken Away From Me”

Russian social media star and TV personality Olga Buzova has been left in tears after her Instagram account was hacked and her profile picture removed.

The reality TV star, who has 23.3 million Instagram followers, posted a nearly seven-minute video on Sunday of herself sobbing over the impending loss of her audience.

“I am not afraid of admitting that I do not want to lose you,” she said in Russian. “I have been working hard for four years.”

Buzova, 36, became famous after appearing on Russia’s version of Big Brother and is a household name there.

Her social media presence is larger than that of any other public figure in Russia except President Vladimir Putin, whose official Instagram account has 23.9 million followers.

“I do not know what the future holds. I don’t know,” she continued.

“I just shared my life, my work, and my soul. I did not do this all as a job for me, this is a part of my soul. It feels like a big part of my heart, and my life is being taken away from me,” Buzova added.

“Do you think that for me, as an Instagram influencer, this is a source of income?” she said in Russian in a video shared by the channel. “To me, it’s all life. It’s the soul.

It’s the one thing with which I wake up, fall asleep. Fucking five years in a row.”

The Conflict of War and Social Media Ban

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin called for an Instagram ban amidst his country’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

Putin wants the ban because he believes Instagram is being manipulated to suppress his approval ratings ahead of the elections in March.

Some of Russia’s most famous influencers have broken down in tears after learning the news, saying they may be forced to leave their homes and businesses behind.

According to BBC, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin wants to ban Instagram. He believes the popular social media platform is being “manipulated” to suppress his approval ratings ahead of the elections in March.

Putin also cited concerns over “the Ukrainian crisis” as a reason for the ban.

Putin made the announcement last week and said the reason for the ban was “national security” concerns. Instagram has not yet commented on the matter.

We just hope things get better and people get relief from the ongoing crisis.
