With Shah Rukh Khan son’s Aryan Khan being arrested on Sunday post the NCB raided a rave party on the “Cordelia” cruise last Saturday, the Bollywood King seems to be in deep trouble which does not seem to be ending soon.
For all those who are wondering where is Shah Rukh Khan in this situation, let me tell you that the actor is certainly in Mumbai now.
SRK has been trying really hard to get his son out of judicial custody. And the latest news on this is that Aryan Khan’s bail plea has been rejected by the Esplanade magistrate court in the Mumbai drugs-on-cruise case on Friday.
As such, he could not return to his home Mannat even on his mother Gauri Khan’s birthday yesterday.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Son Aryan Khan Bail Rejected; Byju’s Pauses Ads Featuring SRK
The court rejected the bail application of Aryan Khan and 2 others accused in the case post-hearing the arguments on all fronts. The court cited that the plea was ‘not maintainable’. All the accused have been directed to head to a sessions court to seek regular bail.
Aryan Khan is kept in the quarantine cell of Mumbai’s Arthur Road prison according to the new jail guidelines.
Also, Aryan Khan will not be receiving any special treatment and will be treated just like any other prisoner under the trial period.
Impact on Shah Rukh Khan’s Work Life
Trouble for King Khan does not end here! As expected, his professional career is being impacted a lot after this big trouble.
Byju’s, for which SRK has been the brand ambassador since 2017, has now put a pause to its collaboration with the actor after this whole episode of Aryan Khan.
The Bengaluru-based startup has reportedly pulled the ads featuring Shah Rukh Khan over the last few days in spite of having advance bookings.
However, there have been no comments from Byju’s spokesperson yet regarding the matter.
A person well versed with the issue said, “They (Byju’s) have paused all SRK-related promotions for now. It had to be pulled as the company which is in the area of education wouldn’t like to be seen in promotions with him given the controversy (over the drug case involving his son).” He added, “These ads were booked in advance—as is the process—so it took some time to stop all of them.”
Although Shah Rukh endorses several other top brands including LG, Dubai Tourism, Hyundai, Reliance Jio, and ICICI Bank, it was Byju’s which was the biggest sponsorship deal for the star.
Rohit Ohri, group chairman at creative ad agency FCB India, said, “Byju’s has benefited immensely from its association with SRK.” He further said, “Shah Rukh’s association with the edtech brand has been so intrinsic and so deep, that even if Byju’s is pausing the advertising for now, it will be very difficult for the brand to delink itself from SRK.”
Shah Rukh Khan who takes the fourth spot in Duff & Phelps’ celebrity brand valuation study boasts a brand value of $51.1 million.
The 55-year old Bollywood celebrity who holds a huge fan base has 42 million Twitter followers as well as 26.5 million Instagram followers.
