Businessman Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been arrested on Monday night by the Mumbai Police in a pornography-related case. Raj Kundra is said to be the key conspirator for making porn films and publishing them through different apps.
The arrest of Raj Kundra has been confirmed by the Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale. He gave the statement as: “There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this.”

He also said that the Police have sufficient evidence against Raj Kundra and that the investigation is in progress. He added, “We have sufficient evidence regarding this. Investigation is in progress.” Kundra has been charged under various IPC sections.
In regard to the case, 10 accused have been arrested till now which include Raj Kundra too.

Going by a report, two FIRs have been filed by the Police and 9 people were arrested last week by the Property Cell of the Mumbai Police for forcibly making the actors shoot obscene scenes for making porn videos. Later these pornographic videos were released on paid mobile apps. Gehana Vasisth was also among those who were arrested.
As per the Crime Branch, this group of people used to trap aspiring actors by offering them good roles in films on OTT platforms. However, later they would force them for shooting porn videos. And for doing all this, the actors would be paid Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 while the accused would get Rs 2-3 lakh per video.
During this whole episode, a person named Umesh Kamat was also arrested. Umesh worked with Raj Kundra and his arrest disclosed Raj Kundra’s involvement in the porn racket. However, due to lack of evidence, the Crime Branch did not arrest Kundra at that time.
A Crime Branch office said, “Our team worked on it closely after filing the first charge sheet in the case. During the probe, we found that the accused, in fact, sent WeTransfer files abroad sitting in Kundra’s office.”
Umesh Kamat was the managing director of VIAAN industries. And interestingly, Raj Kundra is a Chairmen and non-executive director there. A C-grade film director, Tanvir Hashmi was also arrested earlier this year in February who was also involved in making porn videos of aspiring actors.
It was revealed during the Crime Branch investigation that he was sending pornographic videos to UK-based Kernin Limited with the help of Kamat. HotShot, Nuefliks, HotHit, and escapenow were the apps that were used in uploading porn videos by including foreign IP addresses.
Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty tied the knot in the year 2009. The couple has two children – Viaan Raj Kundra, born in 2012, and Samisha, born in 2020.
