Is there anything Priyanka Chopra cannot conquer? The Bollywood and Hollywood actress, singer, producer, former Miss World, philanthropist, and you know, queen of the universe in general, has made not one, but three Forbes lists: 100 Most Powerful Women’s List, Forbes’s Most Powerful Women in Entertainment and Media, and the one that has everyone buzzing is Chopra’s position on the Forbes’ Highest Paid Television Actresses list!
The global icon holds the eighth spot on the Forbes Highest Paid Television Actresses list with a whopping $10 million in earnings for the year. Chopra is actually down $1 million from last year but she managed to keep her position on the list. In such a short time, she has managed to develop such a successful and lucrative career in the States. Though she places eighth among the television actresses on the Forbes list, this brings Chopra up as the seventh highest-paid Bollywood star.
Chopra has definitely worked for her earnings. She expanded on a powerful career in Bollywood to essentially start from scratch in Hollywood. Her big break was her role as a smart, sassy, and sexy FBI agent Alex Parrish on “Quantico.” Fans have loved the role and the show so much, Chopra won the People’s Choice Award and the show has made it to season three which begins January 2018. She also made her big-screen debut as Victoria in the 2017 remake of “Baywatch.”
Chopra’s connection to ABC is so strong she’s actually working on producing a new show on the network based on the life of legendary Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene. Mimicking Dixit-Nene’s real life, it will be about an Indian actress who has to move to Colorado for her husband’s job and start a new life there.
Besides “Quantico” and “Baywatch,” she also has some fruitful endorsements under her belt in both, America and India, including Pantene and Lyf Mobile. Chopra is the official ambassador for Pantene. She is featured in print and television ads including a commercial that also stars singer Selena Gomez and mixed martial arts fighter, Rhonda Rousey.
How lucrative are these endorsement deals? Well, Chopra reportedly received a seven-figure check for endorsing Indian jeweler Nirav Modi’s company and $1 million for her endorsement of the Indian company Lyf Mobile. These advantageous endorsements compile about 50% of Chopra’s earnings.
While she has built up her popularity with her shows, films, and endorsements, Chopra’s fans in India have not forgotten her. Back home she also began producing films with her mother under their production company Purple Pebbles production house. Purple Pebbles aims to create regional films and promote new talent. In 2016, they released the Bhojpuri film “Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi,” and the Marathi film “Ventilator.”
“Ventilator” even featured a song sung by Chopra and the comedy went on to win three National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards.
Other Bollywood stars have tested the Bollywood to Hollywood route, like most recently, Deepika Padukone, but none have found as much success has Chopra. How does she manage to do it all? We may never know. But perhaps that’s part of her many charms.
