The world’s number 1 YouTube channel PewDiePie’s dog Maya passed away. PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, and his wife Marzia, are devastated over the death of their beloved dog that they had for over 17 years. PewDiePie is a YouTuber with over 111 million subscribers.
PewDiePie’s Instagram Tribute
PewDiePie posted a heartfelt message on Instagram for the pup and wrote “Said farewell to my little Maya 💔 this morning.. 17 years is a long time for a pug, but no time in the world would’ve ever been enough.”
He mentioned how he never imagined that he could love a dog as much as he loved Maya. The YouTuber then went on to thank the dog by saying “Thank you for all the wonderful time we got to spend with you ❤️ Thank you for always making my days brighter ❤️ Thank you for bringing me closer to Marzia♥️”.
The 33-year-old concluded by saying that “I will miss you so much and I already do.. you will always be in my heart Maya ♥️♥️♥️”.
Fans Posted Condolences
Although PewDiePie does not show a lot of his personal life online, Maya did make appearances often in his videos. Therefore, many of his fans were also heartbroken over the loss.
One user commented “So sorry to hear, this sucks. Her presence in your videos was a huge part of my childhood. Rest in peace to the legend and my condolences.” Another person wrote, “It’s not even my dog and I’m close to tears. We love you Maya ❤️”.
Another fan also commented, “im so glad maya was able to make it to japan 🇯🇵 you guys gave her the best life a pug can have. i love you maya you will be missed by thousands of people”. Most of the comments on the post were along the same lines.

PewDiePie’s Move To Japan
The Swede YouTuber was originally based in the UK. In 2019, he announced that he wanted to relocate to Japan with his wife and dogs. This was not necessarily a shock as PewDiePie was inspired by the Japanese culture and his fans were aware of that. Still, moving to a different country is a big deal.
It took him 2 years after making the announcement to finally move to Japan. The delay was due to the pandemic. The closed borders of Japan did not allow him to make the move. Meanwhile, his house in Japan got broken into and robbed.
Maya’s Deteriorating Health
When the couple did move to Japan, they hired a private jet to do so as they did not want their dogs to feel suffocated in the stuffy cargo. Although they made it to Japan safely, their pug Maya, who has only one working eye, was not doing well.
In a vlog, PewDiePie admitted that Maya was unwell and that she was also suffering from Dementia. One of the symptoms of the disease is getting angry, which is something that PewDiePie mentioned that Maya had.
