Payton Gendron: The 18-Year-Old Shooter Who Killed 10 People at Buffalo Supermarket

Saturday, 10 people were shot dead in a mass shooting at Buffalo Supermarket, new York.

The authorities have called the shooting an “evil” act of violence which was racially motivated and perhaps the worst mass shooting that ever occurred in New York.

Payton Gendron from Concklin, New York was prosecuted and has been charged with first-degree murder. the plaintiff has pleaded not guilty. The white teenager followed a racist killing spree which resulted in the death of 10 people.

Suspected Gunman

Payton Gendron, the suspected gunman at the massacre is an 18-year-old and is supposedly responsible for the shooting at the Buffalo supermarket, a grocery store in the black neighbourhood in northern New York. He has been arrested by the police under the charge of murder.

Three other people were wounded during the shooting by Payton who was armed with an assault rifle. As per authorities, the suspect acted individually, driving from his home to the city for several hours to initiate this attack in the daylight. The attack was broadcasted by the white teenager in real-time on Twitter.

The Victims of the Act

The 13 victims of the live broadcasted massacre were reported. 10 of which died and 3 were injured. One of them was a retired Buffalo Officer who was appointed as a security guard at the store and lost his life.

The three people who were injured endured non-lethal wounds as per the press conference. Eleven of all the thirteen victims were Black and four of them were the employees of the store.

Racially Motivated Killing

The shooting is being investigated by the officials as a domestic extremism incident and a hate crime targeting a particular race in society.

“This was pure evil,” Erie County sheriff John Garcia said. “It was straight-up racially motivated hate crime from somebody outside of our community.”

The police authorities even said that they have evidence which indicated that the attack was racially motivated, though there has been no confirmation that the suspect left behind any hate-filled manifesto.

The suspect has reportedly posted a racist manifesto online on 4chan, which stated white supremacist ideologies about the “great replacement” theory and the differences in IQ between the two races.

Unfolding the Incident

The suspected gunman arrived at the supermarket at 2:30 P.M ET and first shot four people in the parking lot followed by killing three people before entering the store and then firing several rounds inside the marketplace.

In an attempt to save their lives people hid, an employee who introduced him as Will G even shared how he hid with a group of people in a walk-in cooler in the supermarket as the multiple shots were fired.

“I just heard shots. Shots and shots and shots,” he told the outlet. “It sounded like things were falling over. … I hid. I just hid. I wasn’t going to leave that room.”

In today’s era hatred is spreading like a wildfire through the medium of social media platforms suggests how one is not even safe when he goes to buy groceries.

Buffalo Mayor, Bryon Brown asked people to stay united on what he claimed to be a “day of great pain for our community”.

“Many of us have been in and out of this supermarket many times,” he told reporters. “We cannot let this hateful person divide our community or our country.”
