Cannes just got better!
While the Cannes took most of the attention with celebs dressing in their absolute best, other stars took the spotlight for some noble deeds too.
Shaun White and Nina Dobrev, the couple very much in love graced Cannes with their presence. In addition to donning their outstanding look, they also raised money for the war in Ukraine.
The cute duo was spotted at a swanky gala in the south of France. What else? Let’s find out.
Nina & Shaun raised money at With Love for Peace Gala in Cannes!
The athlete and Olympians took on the stage on Sunday at With Love for Peace Gala at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
They went to auction their items exclusively to raise funds for Ukraine refugees in the United Nations Refugee Fund. items from Shaun White’s new collection such as his custom autographed signboard and pair of goggles with his signatures were sold at $40,000.
Furthermore, Dobrev joined the team and tried to raise the price by adding $5,000 to a bidder. It was a picture of her with White where she was kissing White on the cheek. Sadly, the bid wasn’t heard.
Shaun White is a star athlete and a gold medalist and has been in a relationship with Nina Dobrev, Vampire Diaries star since 2020. The two gave their first public appearance, together on the red carpet for “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The two were extremely ecstatic as White held his girlfriend by her waist. Nina wore a floor-length gown with shades of gold and cream all around it. White, on the other hand, donned an all-black look. He paired it with a tie and a dress shirt. To complete the look, he added a pair of sunglasses.
This year’s Cannes festival had the war in Ukraine on its list of priorities.
In the opening speech from Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine said, “The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.”
The speech was a quote from Charlie Chaplin in “The Great Dictator”.
White & Dobrev’s Love for Charity
The Cannes is the highly-anticipated event of the year. With so many events taking place vividly around the corners, there were plenty that took most of the attention.
Ukraine’s war amid the Cannes festival was a major subject of the night. A woman was thrown off the red carpet as she protested against the war by painting her body. She crashed the “Three Thousand Years of Longing” premiere.
Moreover, Nina and Shaun were the “perfect’ couple of the night spreading their elegance and sophistication all the way through.
Dobrev has worked with the charity over years. She shares an extreme passion for them.
Australian Wildlife Relief and WE Charity are some of the charities Dobrey has worked with. Due to her involvement with charities, she was offered the Variety Power of Youth Generation On Award in 2013. Speaking about Dobrev, White mentioned, “overwhelming kindness and care for people.”
