Seems like there is still not enough room for progress as the former star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, NeNe Leakes has filed a lawsuit in Atlanta Federal Court against the production company behind the show accusing of a hostile and racist work environment. Nene Leakes Sues Claiming Racism Accepted On ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’
NeNe Leakes, 54 years old American television personality, a former star of the famous “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” filed a lawsuit on Wednesday alleging that the production company True Entertainment and True Original tolerated and encouraged the hostile and racist work environment.
The lawsuit filed in the federal court also includes allegations against the executive members of the company who were aware of the racial discrimination on the sets and the behavioral attitude towards NeNe who is black.
According to the press, NeNe has named “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” executive producer Andy Cohen, True Entertainment, NBCUniversal and True Original along with executive companies onboard.
As per NeNe Leakes’s words in the court, she shares about the racist remarks being passed in on the sets from Singer and fellow celebrity on the show, Kim Zolciak-Biermann. She also mentioned that she had to face professional consequences for it.
The lawsuit representing Leakes in the court stated that True Entertainment, NBCUniversal, and True Original fostered an environment where racially insensitive and inappropriate behavior was tolerated and sometimes encouraged.
NeNe Leakes’ serious allegations against Kim Zolciak-Biermann
NeNe Leakes expressed in her statement in the court that the former star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kim Zolciak passed racially motivated remarks at her throughout the filming season.
NeNe mentioned in the legal documents that Kim said, “I don’t want to sit around with NeNe and eat chicken”, followed by a hysterical laugh indicating an offensive stereotype of African Americans.
Leakes claims that Zoliciak made extreme offensive remarks on the show during the fifth season in 2012 where Zolciak used the N-word in reference to a fight with NeNe and a few other cast members.
Some other remarks include Zolciak commenting on the neighborhood where a black cast member was purchasing a house. Kim described it as “ghetto” and called Leakes’s house, a “roach nest”. She also implied to other cast members that Leakes was a drug user.
The lawsuit alleges that Leakes’ complaints about the racial discrimination on the show led to her being forced to get out of the series.
