Fans Show Outrage as Nicki Minaj’s Performance During Essence Fest was Not Live Streamed

Essence 2022 drew criticism from Nicki Minaj fans. The team behind the annual event came under fire after promising the 39-year-old rapper’s performance would stream live on Hulu on Friday night, July 1, only to say that it would no longer be available.

The festival’s social channels heavily promoted Nicki, so many Barbz felt like they had been led on. Fans expressed their frustrations on Twitter.

As big names from all sides of entertaining descend upon the Big Easy for the Essence Festival, New Orleans is the place to be. Several event highlights have been shared on social media as peoples participate in the celebrations, and the event was streamed live on Hulu for those who couldn’t make it to NOLA.

Essence Promised To Livestream The Rapper’s Performance

On Friday night, Essence promised that Minaj’s performance would be livestreamed on Hulu since the rapper was announced as the festival’s headliner. The Barbz, however, received terrible news last minute. The festival did not stream Nicki’s performance.

Considering Minaj had promoted the 2022 Essence Fest’s Livestream event, Nicki’s fans were not pleased about the change of plans. Consequently, a number of Barbz post on to Twitter on July 1, to show their anger on the event for leading them on.

“Nah, because this is so messed up, Hulu and essence has been promoting all week saying we’ll be to see Nicki Minaj LIVE on stream…it seems like they sued us for interactions once again,” wrote one Twitter user.

One fan went so far as to write, “Hulu and Essence Fest, y’all are going to hell for not showing Nicki Minaj when you know that’s the only reason we’re watching.”

Even though those in attendance only witnessed Nicki Minaj’s performance, Minaj delivered as expected, belting out classics like “Beez in the Trap,” “Moment 4 Life,” and “Did It On Em.”

On Twitter, Minaj Fans Posted The Criticism

Social media has been poured with clips of blonde Minaj, and as predictable, Minaj has promoted the show that even her opponents have acclaimed. Here are a few responses from her dissatisfied fans and a few things to see from her live performance.
