Robert Durst, New York City real estate heir and convicted murderer who was sentenced to life died on 10th Jan in California Prison. He was 78.
He was convicted of killing Susan Berman, his best friend in her Beverly Hills home. Durst’s net worth was estimated to be a whopping $65 Million at the time of his death.
Attorney Chip Lewis confirmed his death saying, Rob died of “natural causes associated with the litany of medical issues we had repeatedly reported to the court over the last couple of years.”

Robert Durst early life
Robert Durst was born in the year 1943 in Manhattan, New York in a Jewish family. He was the eldest of his three siblings.
Durst was the son of New York real estate business magnate Seymour Durst and his brother, Douglas Durst is a billionaire commercial developer. His mother passed away when he was just seven years old.
Durst studied at Scarsdale High School and later joined Lehigh University. He completed his graduation in the year 1965 and went to pursue a doctoral program at UCLA but he dropped out midway and came back to New York.
He was not interested to work in his father’s Durst Organization so he started a small food store called “All Good Things”. After a few years, he closed down his shop as his dad persuaded him to join his company. Because of Robert’s behavior, his father, Seymour Durst appointed his other son to look after his company.
Robert filed a case to claim his share of the family fortune as he felt that he is entitled to be the heir. In 1982, he first became infamous after the unsolved disappearance of his wife Kathleen.
A life sentence in the murder of Susan Berman
His friend Susan Berman was found murdered on the eve of Christmas in the year 2000 at her home in Los Angeles. Berman was a public witness and knew something related to the disappearance of Robert’s wife.
Robert was in California days before the incident took place and reportedly returned to New York one day before Berman’s murder. In 2015, Robert was arrested by FBI agents.
Last year in Sep 2021 he was convicted for the first-degree murder of Berman as there were several delays, retrials, and Robert’s hospitalizations due to medical condition.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment in October 2021 without parole. Just after this judgment, Robert was tested Covid positive and was placed on a ventilator as his condition was critical.
