BTS Member Jung Kook Tests Positive as Date for Grammy Performance Nears

BTS member Jung Kook is the latest member to test positive for Covid-19. This happened after the group reached Las Vegas on Tuesday. The group is scheduled to perform next weekend at the Grammys. The group’s agency Big Hit made the announcement.

Earlier, another band member J-Hope tested positive for Covid. He could not join the rest of the band as they jetted off to America for upcoming performances.

What Did The Agency Say?

The agency said that “Jung Kook was tested negative on a PCR test in Korea, and he departed for the United States on Sunday, March 27 (KST) in preparation for the Grammy Awards performance.” Furthermore, it stated “After arriving in Las Vegas, he felt a slight discomfort in his throat and promptly took a rapid PCR test (COVID-19 molecular PCR test) and a standard PCR test (COVID-19 quantitative PCR test) on the afternoon of Sunday, March 27 (PT). While being under self-quarantine as a proactive measure, the result of both tests came back positive, and Jung Kook was confirmed with COVID-19 on Monday, March 28 (PT),”

The statement also said that Jungkook is not showing any other symptoms and that all necessary precautions are being taken.

What About The Show And Grammy Performance?

Talking about whether or not Jungkook is going to perform at scheduled US shows, the agency said that it would be determined by the local Covid-19 guidelines and that they are talking to the organizers of the awards to see what can be done.

The statement also addressed the fans and apologized to them for causing concern. It further reassured the well-wishers that all is being done to ensure that the band’s health is taken care of.

Although it is not known yet whether Jung Kook will be joining the rest of the boys for the upcoming concert or Grammy’s performance, there may be other good news.

J-Hope Might Join BTS in the USA

Jimin had made a post about the upcoming performances on WeVerse that translated to “we will go and come back safely.” J-Hope replied to it with “Let’s go and see each other (see you there)”. It also included fire and firecracker emoji at the end hinting J-Hope’s excitement.

This sparked waves across the fandom as they believe that J-Hope may be joining the rest of the boys for the US dates.

BTS is scheduled to perform at Grammys next weekend. The band is also nominated for the Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance this year. The band was nominated last year also but they could not win the award. The fans are hopeful that the boys can bring the prestigious awards home this year.

After that, the group is scheduled to host their US leg of the concert called Permission To Dance on Stage: Las Vegas. Earlier they performed the same concert in Seoul. It was a huge success as it was the first time that the band was performing live after two years of virtual performances due to coronavirus.

Fans are excited for the band to hopefully come together and take the world by storm. After J-Hope and then Jungkook got Covid positive, a Grammy win would be the perfect win for the boys and the fandom. As for whether Jungkook will be a part of the upcoming shows or not, it will become clear as the time comes near for the performances.
