Ye thinks he’s immune, but the world is watching! First, it was Atlanta that cancelled “Kanye West Day”, now Balenciaga has cut its ties with the 45-year-old rapper following his constant controversies – from White Lives Matter to his anti-semitic remarks. This marks the brutal end of one of his most important business relationships in the fashion world.
No Plans For Future Projects…
On his appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Wednesday (Oct. 19), Ye revealed that he has not to regret in threatening to go “DEFCON 3 on Jewish people. Well, this time, it’s Balenciaga that has given a befitting response to the rapper, and believe me, not by raging a social war, but by ending its business relationship with Kanye.
Following Ye’s controversies, ranging from “White Lives Matter” to his recent anti-semitic remarks, the French fashion house announced on Friday (Oct. 21) that it has severed its ties with the 45-year-old rapper. Its parent company, Kering released a statement, saying, “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist.”
Even though Blaneciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia has remained a close friend of the “Donda” rapper for years, and recently worked with Ye on their ‘Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga’ collections, the Georgian fashion designer believes that it makes all the sense to cut ties with Kanye amid the ongoing madness. Balenciaga’s statement was released following the third-quarter earnings report, which was presented on Thursday.
And guess what? The French fashion house has removed Ye’s runway image from both Vogue’s and Balenciaga’s website. Not only this but pieces of his Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collab were also removed from Gap’s site.
Does Kanye Deserve This?
While I really don’t need to answer that question, I’d rather like to highlight his recent controversies. First, Ye donned a “White Lives Matter t-shirt at the Paris Fashion show, and instead of apologising for it, the rapper rather bullied celebrities like Gabriella Karefa Johnson, Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber, who ended up criticizing him for the “hurtful” move.
After this, Ye crossed lines with his anti-semitic remarks. Kanye tweeted on Oct. 8: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE. The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti-Semitic because black people are actually Jews also You guys have toyed with me and tried to blackball anyone who opposes your agenda.” His Twitter and Instagram were suspended during that week.
Power. Disloyalty. Greed. Deicide. Blood. Denial. Anti-Zionism. All of these are antisemitic tropes that we break down in our #AntisemitismUncovered Guide at https://t.co/1D3LOM8xXQ. Many of these myths have influenced @KanyeWest's comments recently, and it's dangerous. https://t.co/fKQLPFkDR2

If you’re not aware, the Atlanta-born rapper has been cancelled by his native place too, following his comments about George Floyd’s death and anti-Semitic tweets. On his recent appearance at “Drink Champs”, Ye told podcasters N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN THAT George Floyd did not die due to being suffocated by a police officer’s knee, instead, he died from fentanyl.
Several Jewish organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League are criticising Ye for spitting hatred against the Jews. Last week, the Anti-Defamation League condemned the rapper’s recent comments, and called them “dangerous”, urging readers to identify and combat antisemitism. Now, decide for yourself what this rapper deserves.
