Apple Music Replaces Pepsi as Super Bowl Halftime Show’s Sponsor

Lately, Apple has shown great interest in sports

Yes, you read that right. Over the last couple of months, Apple has shown a lot of interest in sports. Not long ago, the streaming platform of Apple, cracked a couple of deals with Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer to show various games to all their subscribers.

In the past, the sports rights have belonged to the traditional media companies such as Fox, Disney, Paramount Global, and NBCUniversal, but now with each passing day things are evolving and tech companies like Apple and Amazon have stepped up their game and paid big prices to get those rights.

For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you that, Amazon is now a major NFL partner and that’s because it owns the rights  to “Thursday Night Football.”

What did Apple Music’s vice president have to say about Apple Music replacing Pepsi as Super Bowl Halftime Show’s sponsor?

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, issued a statement regarding Apple Music being the new sponsor of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, that read, “Music and sports hold a special place in our hearts, so we’re very excited Apple Music will be part of music and football’s biggest stage.”

He further added, “We’re looking forward to even more epic performances next year and beyond with the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.”

When will Super Bowl Halftime Show take place next year?

The first Super Bowl Halftime Show in which Apple Music will serve as a sponsor for the annual event will be taking place on Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona. In the coming few weeks, Apple Music will share its ideas and more details on various social media handles like TikTok, Instagram and Twitter.

Nana-Yaw Asamoah, senior vice president of partner strategy for the NFL also put out a statement that read, “We couldn’t think of a more appropriate partner for the world’s most-watched musical performance than Apple Music, a service that entertains, inspires, and motivates millions of people around the world through the intersection of music and technology.”

In May of 2022, Pepsi disclosed that it would no longer be the sponsor of the extravagant annual event. At that time, Pepsi tweeted, “After 10 years of iconic Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show performances, we have decided it’s time to pass the mic. Thank you to the amazing artists and fans who helped us create some incredible moments along the way.  Now on to the next stage.”
