Independence Day in the USA, or the Fourth of July as we all know it, is one of those all-American holidays full of family, food, and fun and let’s face it, one that we all look forward to every summer. Whether we celebrate with day-long trips to the lake, beach, park or have barbecues with our friends and family, we always end off the evening with a grand display of fireworks. Something about this day makes us all feel so patriotic regardless of our background. If anything, it’s a great excuse to celebrate, barbecue and enjoy the company of friends and family.

Being first generation South Asian in America, I grew up celebrating this holiday just like every other American: usually centered around being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and always inclusive of yummy food.

No matter where we’re from, we find that food influenced by our culture seems to find a way onto our menu. This year, we’ve put a twist on quite a few popular Fourth of July favorites to celebrate our American and Desi heritage. We’ve also made sure our vegetarian guests have more than just sides to choose from.

These recipes are super easy to make and sure to be a hit at your next gathering, for July 4th or just a sunny weekend barbecue.

1. PANEER PESTO SKEWERS

If you tend to scramble when trying to figure out what to feed the vegetarians at your barbecue parties, we’ve got the perfect answer! We’ve put a twist on the traditional paneer marinade and come up with pesto paneer skewers. This flavor fusion will have all your guests coming back for seconds and asking for the recipe! You can’t go wrong with succulent paneer cubes coated with an Indo-Italian pesto marinade and chaat masala.

2. MASALA BURGERS

Your favorite veggie burger patties go into flavor overdrive with our masala marinade. These are so tasty, even the meat eaters will be asking for a bite!

3. TANDOORI WINGS

Sticky, tangy, spicy, fall off the bone is exactly what you get when you make these using the Instant Pot. Your family will be begging for these in the weekly rotation!
