Launched in 2017, For Honor is finally getting cross-play support between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC after five long years. After lots of speculations, the official announcement came via the title’s Twitter account on March 10.
As context, For Honor is an action-packed game by Ubisoft available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows PC. However, the title didn’t have cross-platform support, and players could only play with and against players on the same platform.
However, starting Thursday, March 17, 2022, For Honor players will be able to play against each other regardless of the platform as the developer is introducing cross-platform (cross-play) support. It will be integrated into the game in two phases.
Ubisoft will Add Cross-Play to For Honor in Two Phases
Ubisoft will add cross-platform playing support to For Honor in two phases. The first phase of cross-play will combine the matchmaking pools for all PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players, so they can play against each other regardless of the platform. This phase will kick off starting March 17.

It should make matchmaking a lot faster as the number of active players will increase prominently. However, voice chat will not be available initially for all cross-play matches, but Ubisoft has a plan to introduce it later. The developer has also warned that players will need to play a few games to rebalance their skill rating.
On the other side, the second phase of cross-play, which will be reintroduced later, is expected to bring cross-play with friends playing together. The first phase will only allow players to play against each other on different platforms, however, they can’t team-up.
Ubisoft hasn’t announced when phase two of cross-play will be available in For Honor. They have only explained that it is under development and more details will be revealed soon.
The team has also shared a statement on the FAQ page that says, “Crossplay has been an ambition of our team for a very long time. There have been many technical challenges to bringing Crossplay to For Honor because the core technical game components were not originally designed to support it. Thanks to the hard work of the team, we are now proud to bring Crossplay to our Warriors. We believe Crossplay will benefit For Honor and its long-term vision.”
Which modes will be available for Cross-Play in For Honor?
Cross-play will be available in For Honor in almost all modes including PvP and PvE. However, it will not be available in Campaign, Training, Custom, Arcade, and Ranked. Although it should be available in Custom games starting phase two.
Anyway, we don’t know when is phase two coming. It will still take some time as speculated from the For Honor team’s recent comments.
Absolutely glad For Honor is getting crossplay. I do hope it will also come with cross progression at some point too, but for now better matchmaking will be nice to come back to.

Another thing that is not known at this time is if For Honor will offer cross-progression or saves with phase one of cross-play. Players are already asking about that under various posts on social media platforms.
What’s coming with For Honor Year Six: Lost Horizons?
For Honor has recently completed five years, and it has been a great 2022 for players with the introduction of the fifth faction called Outlander in January. Now, the players will be getting cross-play alongside the Year Six: Lost Horizons.
The For Honor team has revealed that Year Six will dive into the mythology and story of Heathmoor. It will focus on one of the four relics while each of them holds a brief story. Michael Porrazzo, Product Manager of the title, has said “the fantasy is really coming to another level we have never seen before.”
We will also see the arrival of more Outlanders, and we’ll see them in season two and season four. They have joined the fight for their own personal reasons. You can find out more about For Honor Year Six in the trailer below:
The introduction of cross-play has already made the upcoming times great for “For Honor” players. Fans have been clamoring for the same for years. After five years, Ubisoft has listened to their voice.
