Indian American actor, producer, and writer, Vineet Chhibber has secured a role as a series regular. The actor, who goes by Vinny Chhibber, will be seen as a regular on CBS’ newest pilot, “Red Line.” You may remember him from his guest roles on shows like “Taken” and “No Tomorrow.”
“Red Line” is a racially charged show where Chhibber will play a witty, openly gay high school teacher. The CBS pilot is set in Chicago where a white cop, played by Noel Fisher, mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor. The show follows the lives of three families that have been affected by the death. Chhibber’s character provides emotional support to Daniel Calder, (Noah Wyle) and his daughter Jira (Aliyah Royale) one of the families that were affected by the tragedy. Chhibber’s character is blunt and outgoing and his persona helps the family deal with the event.
The hour-long show is produced by “A Wrinkle in Time” director Ava DuVernay, and Greg Berlanti.
Aside from “Red Line,” you can catch Chhibbar in Noah Baumbach’s untitled new film for Netflix, a guest role on HBO’s “Here and Now” and you’ll see him back on NBC’s “Taken” reprising his role as Vik Desai.
