After Younger Season 7, spectators bid farewell to Liza Miller. In July 2019, TV Land renewed the series for a seventh and final season, making it the network’s longest-running original series.
Younger is primarily set in New York City and follows Liza Miller, a divorced 40-year-old woman with a teenage daughter and a broken marriage that fell apart due to her former husband’s gambling problem.
After 26-year-old tattoo artist Josh mistakenly believes he and Liza are about the same age. She devises a scheme to pass herself off as a 20-something in order to re-enter the ageist sector of publication.
Later becoming the assistant to Empirical Press marketing head Diana Trout and making friends with Kelsey Peters, a co-worker. Now let’s talk about Season 8 and something else.
Younger Season 8 Will Officially Not Happen
When the seventh season of the show was revealed, it was also disclosed that it would be the series finale and the end of the journey. Younger Season 8 is not going to happen.
All of the characters are fantastic and we know that. The setting and character development are phenomenal. If you want to watch something light, funny, and entertaining, this is a must-see.
Liza and Kelsey’s friendship is simply adorable. But unfortunately, we won’t get to see their journey. But that doesn’t mean their story is over.
“The characters are getting older and figuring out where they go in the next phase of their lives,” Darren Star said. Even though the show has ended, there is something else that viewers should be aware of.
The Talks About Younger Spin-off
The Younger spinoff first popped up in May 2020, and everyone is waiting to see if they will get any. However, on June 10, 2021, following the completion of the series, it was disclosed that the spin-off is no longer in the creation.
Due to Duff’s casting in the How I Met Your Mother spin-off, How I Met Your Father. According to creator Darren Star, any possibility of a Kelsey spin-off has been resolved following the series finale. “It was always going to end with Kelsey doing her own thing, alone, heading to Los Angeles,” Star added.
Star stated, “We’re talking about it. It’s a big question mark whether it’s going to happen. It could be great, but we never know if these things are going to happen until they’re going to happen.”
Duff also stated, “It’s on hold for now. I think I’d be more excited to do a movie for Younger. I think Darren Star, the creator of Younger, is really busy with Emily in Paris, but I know we hold a special place.”
Star also stated, “I think that’s pretty much off the table. [Kelsey moving to California] could have set up the spinoff, sure, but that’s also just the way we wanted this to end. We resolved her story regardless of any notion of a spinoff.”
Looks like there’s plenty of confusion. But we’re still hoping to see something or hear about something soon. Younger rises above some of TV Land’s previous sitcoms thanks to Darren Star’s humourous writing and Sutton Foster’s force of personality.
If you’ve seen this show, you might accept that we’ve lost a masterpiece. But we can always go back and watch ‘Younger’ again, right?
