Dead Ringers, a new psychological thriller, premiered on Amazon Prime Video recently and has won over the audience already. The series features Rachel Weisz as twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly Mantle who share everything with each other while working toward their goal of bringing women’s healthcare to the forefront.
The show is based on the 1988 film of the same name by David Cronenberg, which in turn was an adaptation of Bari Wood and Jack Geasland’s novel Twins. Fans who have binged on the show are now wondering if the series will return with another season. Read on to find out.
Will Dead Ringers Return with Season 2 on Prime Video?
Dead Ringers might not return with a new season as the show was released as a limited series by Prime Video, which means only one season was planned. However, some limited series in the past have been renewed owing to their huge popularity and viewers’ demand, including The White Lotus, 13 Reasons Why, Squid Game, and The Watcher.
So there is a possibility that another season of Dead Ringers can be ordered if Amazon gets an overwhelming response to the first season. What could work in the favor of the show is that it has received critical acclaim, and has been appreciated by the audience. Moreover, the cliffhanger ending of the first season also calls for the continuation of the show.
At the time of writing, Amazon has neither officially renewed nor canceled the show. If Dead Ringers season 2 does get green-lit by the streaming platform in the upcoming weeks, we can expect the show to return to the screens sometime in 2024.
What will Dead Ringers Season 2 be About?

However, the season ended with a twist as Elliot killed Beverly and took her newly born twins. She then began to live her sister’s life in her place. Meanwhile, Elliot’s body, which was left bleeding, disappeared from the hospital room.
So it is possible that Elliot could have been saved by someone. She could still be alive and would definitely seek revenge on her sister. This would form the storyline for the second season, focussing on how the dynamics between the sisters change and they go after each other.
Who will Star in Dead Ringers Season 2?
If Amazon decides to go ahead with season 2, it will surely star Rachel Weisz as Beverly Mantle. It remains to be seen if she also reprises the role of Elliot, based on the storyline. The rest of the cast will probably include Michael Chernus as Tom, Poppy Liu as Greta, Britne Oldford as Genevieve Cotard, and Jeremy Shamos as Joseph.
The official synopsis for the series reads, “Elliot and Beverly Mantle are twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes, including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics, in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.”
