Jack Ryan, our favorite CIA agent, finally returned to the screens after a long wait of three years. The third season of the acclaimed action thriller dropped on Prime Video on December 21 and is already being loved by the audience.
The new season follows Ryan on the run from his own government agency as he is entrapped in an international conspiracy. The premise of the show sees the agent moving to a number of different locations. So where was Jack Ryan season 3 filmed? Read on to find out.
Jack Ryan Season 3 Filming Locations
The new season of Jack Ryan was shot across six different countries, including the US, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, and Austria. The cameras started rolling for the season in October 2020; however, the production was soon halted due to the Covid pandemic.
The filming resumed in May 2021 and concluded in September of the same year. Now, without much ado, let’s have a look at all the locations where the show was filmed.
Athens, Greece
Some important sequences for the new season were shot in Athens, the capital of Greece. The production team was seen in Greater Athens, a metropolitan area, where filming took place in Athens, Piraeus, and the towns of Laurium and Drapetsona.
Some other exotic locations in Greece also served as filming locations in August and September 2021, including the island of Santorini, Argolis, Sounion and Kopais.
Prague, Czech Republic
The cast and crew of the show were spotted in Prague, the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, in May 2021. A number of scenes were filmed at a luxurious restaurant in the middle of the city.
Budapest, Hungary
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, also served as the filming location for Jack Ryan season 3. The shooting took place on Margaret Island, in the Danube, in the center of the city. Budapest is the most populous city in Hungary and is known for its historic buildings. Before Jack Ryan, shows like The Witcher and The Rookies were also shot in the city.
The production team also shot some sequences in Pest County, near Budapest. The Astra Studios at 1-3 Napraforgó street in the village of Mogyoród, was utilized for the purpose. The studio comprises six sound stages, large indoor water tanks, and a huge back lot area.
Rome, Italy
The team was seen taping some key sequences in Rome, the capital of Italy, in October 2020 before the shooting stalled due to the pandemic. A number of other projects have also been shot in the city earlier, including John Wick: Chapter 2, The American and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Vienna, Austria
The cast and crew set up their base in Vienna, the capital and the largest city of Austria, to shoot some pivotal scenes, which were majorly filmed at the Stephansplatz square. The city is known for its Imperial places and museums.
New York, US
New York also served as a filming location for Jack Ryan season 3. The state has hosted a number of productions earlier as well, including Person of Interest, The Godfather, The Blacklist, and National Treasure.
