 What Happened In Episode 4: Recap

The episode is titled”Snake.” It begins with Snake apologizing to Thorfinn for his wounds. Suddenly he draws his sword to attack Thorfinn. Thorfinn instantly reacts while seeing Askeladd in Snake and blocks the attack. Furthermore, Snake states that Thorfinn’s body wants to live. Hence, he reacted that quickly to save himself.

At the same time, Thorfinn wonders if he wants to live and what he would live for. Pater tends to his wounds and tells Einar that he was a slave once and has bought his freedom. Pater apologizes to both of them for not protecting them. Moreover, He tells them that Arnheid saved them as she was the one that informed him about the duo.

Einar and Thorfinn return to the forest to complete their chores. Einar questions Thorfinn about his past, and he reveals that he was a soldier for the Danish army that raided England. Therefore, Einar realizes Thorfinn is like the people who attacked his village and killed his family.

Later in the night, Einar tries to strangle Thorfinn. He starts choking and gasping for air. However, Thorfinn is dreaming and stuck in a nightmare about his experience with war. Einar releases his grip while Thorfinn wakes up from his dream, unable to comprehend.

Finally, Thorfinn tells Einar that he is no different from the people who killed his family. Einar responds by saying that he does not know what Thorfinn has gone through or what he has experienced.
