Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 2: Recap
The episode started with Ketil, Einar’s new master introducing him to Thorfinn. Ketil informs Einar that he and Thorfinn will be working together from now on. He further adds that the two can buy back their freedom. They could do that in estimated three years. Furthermore, the duo can clear the forest and start farming, and Ketil will lease out that land to both of them for an amount.
Einar and Thorfinn start their work together and realize they have a long way to clear the forest. At lunchtime, Ketil’s retainers approach them with half-eaten lunch. This angers Einar, and he tries to confront the retainer.
Thorfinn interrupts and tells Einar to leave it at that. However, Einar disagrees and states that he must report this abuse to the master. Thorfinn tells him that this will only increase the bullying and abuse.
Einar refuses to be treated this way. At the same time, Ketil appears, and Einar tries to report the situation. Suddenly, Einar catches a glimpse of a woman and is taken aback by her beauty. Unable to speak anything.
After a tiring day, Einar and Thorfinn are introduced to Olmar. Ketil’s son. Olmar has no interest in farming and wishes to fight for Canute and Denmark. He confides this to his lady companion, who seems worried about him.
Furthermore, Olmar ends his night by drinking with his father’s employees. Einar confides in Thorfinn how the Vikings and English exploited their village and set it to fire and how his father died.
What To Expect From Episode 3
The next episode will pick up from the next day with Einar and Thorfinn at work. The preview shows Einar about to be attacked by Ketil’s employees. That could mean that Einar tried to confront them about something. We will get to see what Thorfinn’s reaction is to all this. Thorfinn seems even more detached than he was in the previous season.
However, Thorfinn’s reaction can get them into even more problems. The preview also showed the woman Einar saw in the previous episode. Episode 3 will tell us more about the woman and Throfinn’s reaction to Einar’s bullying.
