Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke is bringing to the story of boxer Pardeep Singh Nagra to the big screen with his upcoming film “Tiger.”

Nagra was an amateur boxing champion who was barred from boxing due to his beard. As a practicing Sikh man, keeping his beard and turban were vital to his relationship with his religion. With the support of his coach, Nagra fought against the discrimination tirelessly and continues to do so internationally today.

In the film, actor Prem Singh will portray Nagra and Mickey Rourke will take on the role of his coach. The film will follow Nagra’s journey as a champion, from facing racial profiling, stereotypical threats, to how he navigates the pressures to change,  and of course, how he found love.

Nagra’s battles in the boxing ring parallel the battles he faces in the courtroom. Actress Janel Parrish, known for her roles in “Pretty Little Liars” and “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” plays Nagra’s love interest.

“Tiger” is the official selection of the upcoming Austin Film Festival, San Diego Film Festival, and New Orleans Film Festival.

“Tiger” is set to release in North America on November 2, until then, check out the new theatrical trailer for this incredible story.
