The wait is finally over! Season 22 of The Voice will premiere this fall after making the fans wait for a long time, as confirmed by NBC. Read on to know the complete details of the premiere.
The Voice Season 22 Premieres in September
NBC, on June 29th, announced its fall schedule, which included The Voice Season 22. As per the schedule, the singing reality show will premiere on Monday, September 19th at 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour-long episode.
The next day on September 20th, the channel will air a special two-hour edition of the show. From the subsequent week, the show will air two episodes every week, with the Monday episodes being two-hour-long, and the Tuesday ones being the regular one-hour long. This time slot is the same as the previous seasons.
The episodes will also be available to be streamed on Peacock streaming service. The blind auditions for the show were shot in early June at Universal Studios.
The season 22 coaching panel will be a little different from last year. Ariana Grande would not be seen as a coach this year and will be replaced by Gwen Stefani. Gwen has previously been an on-and-off coach on the show for many seasons.
Blake Shelton and John Legend will also return to coach the contestants. Blake has been with the show since the very first season, while John has coached the participants for six seasons.
Kelly Clarkson will be leaving the show after winning the title in the previous season with Tom. Talking about her exit, the singer told E! News that she wanted the summer off from the show, so it is uncertain she has permanently left. She said, “I’m just gonna have time with my kids out on my ranch in Montana, and we’re just gonna be doing nothing.”
She added, “Like, you know, riding around on four-wheelers and taking picnics, and hiking and cooking and just doing fun stuff. So you know, scavenger hunts, that kind of stuff.”
Clarkson will be replaced by singer-songwriter Camila Cabello, who debuted with The X Factor USA in the year 2012. She also acted as an adviser for Team Legend in the 21st season of the show.
The host of the show, Carson Daly will also return in the new season. In an Instagram post, he has quoted that the talent in the new season might be the best so far.
The Voice is Returning After a Year
Since its inception in 2011, the show has had two cycles every year, possibly to keep up with its rival show American Idol, which premiered in 2002. But, since the last fall, the show’s schedule has been off the track. The show went on a year-long break before finally announcing its return this September.
However, things might be back on track as season 23 is expected to launch soon after the 22nd season finishes. The same has been indicated by the show’s audition schedule. So the show will possibly be back with its 2 cycles-a-year format.
