It is not often that a sequel of a film is released 36 years after the original one hit the theatres. But, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick is one of them and lets us have a look at what we can expect from the classic action film.
The talk for a sequel of Top Gun has been happening since 2010 and even though Tom Cruise is 59 now it seems as if there is no way he is going to slow down.
Top Gun: Maverick Trailer and What to Expect
Top Gun: Maverick will feature Tom Cruise reiterating his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell on the screens of the theatres across the United Kingdom this month.
The trailer of the action-packed film is available and the four-decade wait seems to be worth it, here is a glimpse into the Tom Cruise’s film-
The plot of Top Gun: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick will revolve around Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell whose role is being played by Tom Cruise. It narrates how after more than thirty years of experience and service as a Navy Aviator, Pete “Maverick” is finally where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a test pilot who is not only courageous but also has dogged the advanced in rank.

The plot of the film will feature Maverick training a detachment of graduates for the purpose of a unique assignment, while this Maverick faces his ghosts from the past and his deepest fears come to the surface as he culminates a mission that requires the ultimate sacrifice from those who opt to fly it.
the producer of the film, Jerry Bruckheimer told in an interview that “The concept is, basically, are the pilots obsolete because of drones… Cruise is going to show them that they’re not obsolete. They’re here to stay.”
What makes the film highly anticipated are scenes where Tom cruise truly sits in the pilot seat and flies the fighter jets for real and his performance of all the stunts without a stunt double is what intrigues the fans.

It’s stunning. I laughed I cried. @TopGunMovie had NO business being this good.
Not kidding, it should be nominated for best picture. A masterpiece.

It was also said in a statement that “Everything you see in this film is for real. We’re working with the Navy, all of the flying you see in this picture is real, I really wanted to give you all an experience of what it is to be inside that aircraft.”
What Led to the Making of A Sequal of a 1986 Movie?
As Tom Cruises’ character said in the 1986 hit film Top Gun – “I feel the need, the need for speed,” it took the world by storm through its riveting aerial sequences. The movie was a huge hit at the box office and was able to make more than $365 Million worldwide, even after receiving mixed reviews.

It was the demands from the fan which instigated the return of Cruise with another “Top Gun” movie for more than 20 years and the star finally addressed these demands in 2017 when he announced that a sequel will be arriving soon.
Joseph Kosinski, the director of the film shared how Maverick has changed since the original Top Gun stating that “In so many ways he’s still the guy that we remember from the first Top Gun.” “He keeps that old Ninja under a tarp in the hangar and still wears those Ray-Ban aviators. He’s the best at what he does, and he’s given his whole life to aviation.

“Miles Teller is Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw; Monica Barbaro plays Phoenix; Lewis Pullman is Bob; Glen Powell is Hangman; Jon Hamm is Cyclone; Ed Harris plays a Rear Admiral and Jean Louisa Kelly plays Sarah Kazansky.”
However, one original star who will not be returning to ‘Top Gun: Maverick” is Kelly McGillis. But the return of Kilmer was particularly a big win for the director Joe Kosinski he even claimed that “To get to work with an actor of that calibre, to see the chemistry, the camaraderie between him and Tom, and to have those two characters reunite in this film, was a really special moment, and one of my favourite parts of the film.”
Val Kilmer is trending. We know that he will be appearing in the long-awaited sequel TOP GUN: MAVERICK, but will Iceman still be doing that weird chomp? pic.twitter.com/A9TnKYYzOW

The sequel has been directed by Joseph Kosinski and has been written by Eric Warren Singer, Christopher McQuarrie and Ehren Kruger, by a story which was devised by Justin Marks and Peter Craig.
There's not quite that known information on him but since he's considered an underrated filmmaker or the better version of Michael Bay than let's have at it.
