Finally! We have some great announcement for ‘The Righteous Gemstones‘ viewers. HBO, renewed the show for a second season in September 2019. Since then, we’ve known that another season is on the way. And it’s been a pretty long time.
Hence, no release date announcement was made before. But, guess what? We now have an exciting news to share. HBO official announced the release date for Season 2 of ‘The Righteous Gemstones’. The season that literally everyone has been waiting for. We also have other insights, in addition to the release date.
Let’s start with the premise of the show. The Righteous Gemstones narrates the story of Eli Gemstone, a widowed patriarch who leads a dynasty of televangelists and megachurch pastors. Eli and his immature children, Jesse and Kelvin, live lavishly owing to church donations.
They are working to grow their megachurch connectivity, which is threatening to drive smaller adjacent churches out of operation, such as Rev. John Wesley Seasons’ church.
In the first season, Eli’s separated brother-in-law, ‘Baby’ Billy Freeman, is appointed to lead the family’s newest megachurch, which is housed in a shopping mall.
At the same time, Jesse is threatened by a trio of masked individuals who promise to leak a scandalous video featuring his and his best friends’ inappropriate behavior at a private party.
The Righteous Gemstones Season 2 Official Release Date
Time for the great announcement. The official release date of ‘The Righteous Gemstones Season 2’ has already been announced. The shows second season will premiere on January 9, 2022. There will be a total of 9 episodes in this season of the show.
In the aftermath of the Season 1 conclusion, creator of the show Danny McBride stated a source, “I just picture this show as something a little more bigger, wilder, and more epic in the sense that we’re not calculating what the audience’s final thoughts are about these characters yet.”
Adding, “We’re just now introducing the audience to these characters. And, if I have my way, we’ll be exploring these characters for a few years to come.”
The Righteous Gemstones Season 2 Episode Titles & Release Dates
We have the official release date & title of few episodes that’s going to premiere soon. Season 2 will premiere with two back-to-back episodes on Sunday, January 9 at 10 p.m. EST. The Gemstones are in a fighting shape in this glimpse, with John Goodman riding a roller coaster. Adam DeVine heading a bunch of religious muscle men, and McBride executing the jerk-off hand-motion at the conclusion. There’s also a glimpse introduction to several new faces.
Along with this, Danny McBride has also stated that the pandemic would be addressed in season 2. Which is all the more impressive given that COVID-19 caused the production schedule for The Righteous Gemstones to be interrupted.
Taking into consideration, we’re going to witness a lot of stuffs in the upcoming season. And this upcoming season is going to be amazing.
