“Your skills are being sadly wasted in this den of imbecility,” her coworker says in the trailer. The lead character says, “I got things to do, momma needs attending, the house needs cleaning.” “I’m done pretending I can live in a sim,” she says.

The trailer provides us with our first glimpse of the imaginative world. Flynne is seen experimenting with cutting-edge virtual reality. We can see the technology working because it felt like Flynne was in her own body.

“It turns out if you prick us, we bleed,” the trailer concludes. Check out the official trailer below:

Little More About ‘The Peripheral’

Nohan says, “When I read the book Count Zero [by Gibson], it felt like the first hit of acid. I never experienced anything like the worlds that Gibson created.

I’ve watched every filmmaker rip off all the ideas, myself included, from his works and no one actually had the guts to go and adapt from the source. For us, it felt like coming full circle.”

“Something I really love about it, is it has this sense of home and humanity which is something we lose in sci-fi,” Moretz said to the crowd.

Adding, “Ho matter how far we go into the future it always boomerangs back home. We just had so much fun figuring those little moments out and bringing humanity in. That’s something I really haven’t seen in sci-fi.”

“We all genuinely loved and admired Gibson, he’s such a generous talent,” said Joy. “He really embraced that for each medium, a story has to evolve. You can’t make a poem into a movie, any more than you can make a novel into a TV show without making some sort of changes.

The key is to keep some essence there. I honestly think Scott Smith did such a magnificent job with that. It was a very lovely collaboration.”
