The bonus episode for The Last of Us season 1 has already been released on HBO Max. The finale was scheduled to air on March 12 at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT. And the bonus episode was aired right after the finale finished airing.
The special episode takes viewers into the making of the show and features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews by the cast and crew. HBO has launched a teaser for the same, which shows the making of the plane-crash scene, which was replicated from the game.

What Happened in The Last of Us Season 1 Finale?
In the final episode, a flashback shows Ellie’s birth during a time when her mother was attacked by an Infected runner and subsequently bitten, which led to Ellie’s immunity to the Cordyceps infection.
In the present day, Joel and Ellie reach Salt Lake City, where the Fireflies plan to create a cure. However, Ellie is taken prisoner and prepared for surgery to extract her brain for examination. Joel, not wanting to lose another daughter figure, kills the Fireflies and saves Ellie.
The finale, along with the bonus episode, is now streaming on HBO Max. To watch the show, you need to subscribe to the streaming platform. The ads-supported plan for the service comes at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. The ads-free plan is priced at $15.99 a month or $149.99 a year.
Will The Last of Us Return with Season 2?
HBO has already renewed the show for a second season. Considering the massive ratings, the renewal was announced after the airing of the first two episodes. However, the release date for the upcoming season has not been revealed yet.
