The second episode of The Last of Us season 1 will be released on Sunday, January 22, at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time / 6 pm Pacific Standard Time / 8 pm Central Time. The episode will premiere simultaneously on HBO and HBO Max. The first season of the series is all set to feature 9 episodes, which will be launched weekly on Sundays.

What to Expect from The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 2?
The upcoming episode has been titled ‘Infected’. In the debut episode, we were introduced to the father-daughter duo of Joel and Sarah. In 2003, a virus started to spread, and Sarah was shot and killed by a soldier while trying to flee. 20 years later, the virus has wreaked havoc around the world, and Joel is now in a quarantine zone in Boston, working as a smuggler.
He is forced to smuggle young Ellie to the Massachusetts State House after a deal goes wrong. The two are caught by a soldier but manage to escape by killing him. It is revealed that Ellie is also infected with the virus, but its effects are now showing up in her.
In the next episode, we will get to see if Joel and Ellie succeed in escaping the city. There will probably be new deadly challenges and threats on their way. Meanwhile, their bond will keep getting stronger, as Joel might start seeing Ellie as his daughter.
The Last of Us Stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, both of whom were widely appreciated for their roles in HBO’s Game of Thrones, are starring as the leads, Joel and Ellie, respectively. The rest of the cast includes Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Joe;’s brother; Anna Torv as Tess, Joel’s smuggling partner; Nico Parker as Sarah; Murray Bartlett as Frank and Nick Offerman as Bill.
The official synopsis of the series reads, “Joel and Ellie, a pair connected through the harshness of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal circumstances and ruthless killers on a trek across post-pandemic America.”
