The Crown Season 5 Release Date, Cast and Upcoming Plot




The Crown is a streaming historical drama television series about Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The first season spans the years 1947 to 1955, from Elizabeth’s marriage to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, through the breakdown of her sister Princess Margaret’s engagement to Group Captain Peter Townsend.

The second season spans the years 1956 to 1964, from the Suez Crisis to Prime Minister Harold Macmillan’s departure in 1963 and the arrival of Prince Edward. The third season runs from 1964 to 1977, covering Harold Wilson’s two terms as Prime Minister as well as Camilla Shand’s premiere.




The fourth season covers Margaret Thatcher’s period as Prime Minister and Prince Charles’ wedding to Lady Diana Spencer from 1979 to the early 1990s. The series will conclude with the fifth and sixth seasons, which will follow the Queen’s reign into the twenty-first century. The series has four seasons in total, with the fifth being officially confirmed during the Tudum event.

The Crown Season 5 Release Date

The Crown will return for Season 5 in November 2022, Netflix announced at its Tudum fan event on Saturday, September 25th, 2021. Imelda Staunton, who will portray Queen Elizabeth in the movie, broke the announcement with an exclusive clip. As we all know, the series was supposed to end after five seasons, but we’ll get to see another one.

The Crown Season 5 Upcoming Plot

As earlier mentioned, The Crown follows Queen Elizabeth II’s reign from her wedding in 1947 until the early twenty-first century. The fifth season will be set around the early to 1990s. The emphasis of this season is anticipated to be on the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage and the implications for the monarchy. It also indicates Elizabeth’s failure in certain ways.

Imelda Staunton was named as Colman’s successor as Queen in the fifth season in January 2020, with her involvement in the final sixth season confirmed in July.
