The Ancient Magus’ Bride is officially returning for season 2 as a new preview has been released on the official site. After releasing its final episode in 2018, fans were keen for season 2.
The official Twitter and the anime’s official website have recently confirmed the season 2 return. The confirmed release date is Thursday, April 6, 2023, in Japan. A promotional video has also recently been revealed, and it gives a little idea of what is coming in season 2.
What to Expect from The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2?
The new key visual art hints at the manga’s College arc for the upcoming anime. Chise and Elias’s presence with those six new students in the art prove that. The art prominently covers a total of six new students from the College. These 6 students represent a secret society of mages underneath the British Library.
On Crunchyroll, the official synopsis of season 2 suggests the story as: “Chise was able to accept Elias and herself, if not necessarily everything about her situation. After Cartaphilus fell back into a slumber that would not last forever, Chise was able to go back to her regular life. Then she receives an invitation from a mutual aid organization for mages called the College. Under the British Library exists a secret society of mages. Encounters and interactions with people are about to open some new doors. This is a story about saving yourself to save another.”
When and Where to Watch the Season 2?
Tokyo MX has airing rights in Japan. However, BS11, Hikari TV, and Amazon Prime Video have streaming rights in Japan. Global audiences can enjoy the show on Crunchyroll. The season will start airing on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in Japan.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride is the anime adaptation of Kore Yamazaki’s manga with the same title [Mahō Tsukai no Yome in Japanese]. The manga first made its breakthrough in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade in 2013. Right now, the series is still ongoing with Monthly Comic Garden. The manga sales have recorded more than 10 million copies in circulation. So, there is enough drive and stories left to continue for more seasons in the future.
