‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp Comes Out As Gay, Feels Much Like Will Byers

“Stranger Things” star Noah Schnapp, who received critical acclaim for the role of Will Byers, has finally accepted his true self. The 18-year-old star, who plays the teenage gay character of Will in Netflix’s record-breaking series, came out as gay. He shared a light-hearted TikTok video with his 31.4 million Thursday (Jan. 5), sharing everything about his sexual orientation.

Noah Feels Closer To Will’s Character…

Noah Schnapp (18), celebrated for his stellar role as Will Byers in “Stanger Things”, has revealed everything about his sexual orientation. In a heartfelt TikTok video, Noah Schnapp came out as gay in front of his 31.4 million fans Thursday (Jan. 5).  When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know,’” he wrote on his selfie-driven clip.

In the eight-second video, Noah Schnapp lay on his bed and imitated the words of a woman saying, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.”

What’s more interesting is the caption of this lighthearted video. Noah wrote in the caption, “I guess I’m more similar to will than I thought.”

If you recall, Noah raised speculations in July 2022 when he revealed in an interview about his character Will Byers that he is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. “He is gay, and he does love Mike.”

“It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?” Schnapp stated in the interview. “Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike.” The way Noah said it felt a lot like him. And here he is, proud and open about what he truly is.

Another complimented, “Can we all appreciate that Noah just came out to the whole world and realize how much courage it takes to do that when you’re a literal celebrity.” One fan expressed how inspired he is by Noah’s courage, and wrote, “One of these days I might have that courage.” Well, for some, this news has come as a total surprise while for others, they always knew somewhere.

In his previous interview, Schnapp addressed the growth of his character Will Byers whilst handling his self-identity. It felt as if Noah was narrating his own story. “I think it’s all just part of the challenge of acting. Like, yes, it has been a challenge, but I think it’s just been fun to be able to step into his shoes. Because I really have to take into account, like, this isn’t just a single layer thing of he’s struggling with coming out,” Noah expressed.

As for Netflix’s hit series, “Stranger Things”, the fifth and final season, is going to be both, epic and emotional. As the series is progressing to its final outing, fans could expect something big in the storyline. For now, there is no release trail or trailer for the last season.
